i have a w reg 1.2 clio 3dr, and need a new headgasket.
as the engine has done 103000 miles thought i might aswell get a new engine

what engine would be a straight swap ie bigger engine, i no that the ecu would need to e changed!

a lot harder than it sounds, 172 conversion would be about £3K

If you're going to bother, do a 172 conversion.

If not, get it fixed. It'll be much cheaper in the long run.

weigh it up:

- head gasket cost = £400?
- new engine = price for engine + fitting + pi$$ing about = £1200?
- 172 conversion = £3000

you can buy a 172 ph1 for £1200.

Just fix the head.

new engine 1.2 with lower mileage could be 600 also
