New enine, non starter...

  Project: 54 clio dci
(think this is in the right area! :) )
alrite,

Have a little project on the go, a 54plate clio, im a ford technician so not so familiar with renaults!

bought with a knackered engine, replaced it... plugged it all in and it cranks and cranks but doesnt fire,

constant engine management light upon starting. until the stop light flashes as i imagine it registers a non start.

next port of call is a code reader, which im getting put on it. just wondered if you could throw and light on the subject.

the pumps do not need to be "learned/programmed" to the ecu do they before theyll fire? (this is the case with fords that i work on daily)

swapped the cam and crankshaft sensor from the old engine but no joy.

cheers guys!

If its the Dci, the pumps dont need to be programmed. The injectors do on the other hand. Are they the originals?

Have you primed the low pressure side of the diesel system?

Done the cambelt before the engine went in?

  Project: 54 clio dci
thats good to know... the injectors that are in the engine now are from the "new" engine not the original, so the ecu hasnt learned these injectors. how ever it should have the old injectors stored.
ill give putting the old injectors back in a go

would this cause a non start?

yeah theres fuel all the way to the pump no bubbles plenty of pressure (cracked an injector pipe)
it has a fresh cambelt and water pump yes.

Yes put the original injectors back in, be VERY careful with them, there very delicate. And dont get dirt in the system.

Yes it would cause non start.

Regards to the cambelt, did you use the correct locking tools? These engines have a floating lower timing gear so the locking gear must be used.

  Project: 54 clio dci
yeah ford injectors are just the same, very delicate, i always cap them soon as there out.

awesome well thats good to know...thats a job for tommorow.

yeah i borrowed the correct locking pins from renault to time her up so i know its 100% timed up right :) did it while it was on the bench.

unfortunetly shes no better...

diagnostics time! just need to get hold of a snap on or such like code reader

  Project: 54 clio dci
got my codes:

p0685 - ecm/pcm power relay open circuit

p0089 - fuel pressure regualtor performance problem

p0487 - egr throttle position control circuit
