New Excise Duty bill arrived for Cup...weird

Got my Tax thing from the DVLA today, expecting to see the new £104.50/£190 amount on it but its still got the old £90.75/£165 printed on mine.

When do the new prices come into affect? According to the DVLA its 23/03/06.

Anyone else got their bill?

Interesting, I'll take a cheque in for the amount on the form and try my luck.

It says you can post the new application too so that would be better, any idea how to do this as it doesn't actually say.

I tried last week for a works van, got a cheque made for the old amount.

didn't work, they just said it has gone up so had to get another cheque!

Thats right - we had about 9 to do at work and it had the old price on the paperwork but as soon as the woman in the post office zapped it, it came up with the new prices...

When they scan the barcode on the sheet it will ring thru at 190 quid. theres no escape i'm affraid

Newer cars (March 01 onwards) are calculated by emissions, 172/182 is 194g/km iirc which puts it in Band F. The new band introduced is Band G which is for cars from March 06 onwards chucking out 225g/km or more.

There is no 2000cc tax that I'm aware of, pre March 01 cars are based on above or below 1549cc engine size. So despite the "saving the enviroment" front, older more polluting cars get away with lower tax prices than newer cleaner cars.
