New Exhaust Cat

  Titanium 182
My exhaust leak has returned within about 7 days of it being repaired so I want it fixed! The mechanic said the hangers are fine, so is the clamp so it is either the cat or the pipe that runs from it after the back box, I am going to get a scorpion decat pipe to match my backbox but was wondering if I would need to also buy the other bit of exhaust that joins the cat? Think it's a silencer box? He said until I buy new parts it will just keep sagging and leaking again!

Found the decat for £50 on fleabay, don't even know what the other section of exhaust is called to order it though, any help would be great, thanks

Which part of yours was the leak coming from? Seems I'm in a similar situation...

I had a weird whistling noise under acceleration, and the clamp from the cat to the rest of the system (roughly under where the gear stick would be) was all rusted and the system was sagging there...they renewed the clamp and sealed it all up, but a week later the noise came back, even though they said it still all looked fine. Sound like yours?

Exactly like this lol same whistle sound too, but now at idle it sounds like a raspy air leak

On a 182 it goes (from front to back of car) engine - manifold - cat/decat- centre section- backbox. The centre section and backbox might as well be one section though.

great that what I was looking for, so my leak is at the usual cat - center section fitment, think I will go ahead and order a scorpion decat pipe and keep the original for MOT's, hopefully the sag hasnt stressed anything else and caused leaks or cracks! Once im cruising around the leak isnt audible unless I give it some heavy foot action, but its not nearly as bad as it was when it was really really whisteling!
Im guessing if the clamp is removed it looks like this:

which has then probably deformed over time and caused the cat pipe to bend until its sagging down!

ok I am getting the decat for my birthday lol, every mod I have done so far was as a present, happy days!
Anyway is there any difference between these two decat's:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-C...o|Cars+Type:2.0+16V+Sport&hash=item19c2e68a18
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-C...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2316b9c32d

As you can see one is "rs192" and the other is just "decat" I am unsure as to whether the current system on my car is rs192 (minus cat of course) or just the bog standard Scorpion system, will these all be compaitble with each other or do I need to know what system I currently have?!

Thanks alot

They are both the same fitment so i would go with the cheaper option

Mines the cat > centre section join too thats the issue I believe...if I get a new cat back system will I need a new cat as well? (I know it's hard to tell without seeing it, but is that a usual scenario to fix any problems there?).

It seems to be an issue with scorpion exhausts, they dont seem to fit well with a standard cat, so I am replacing my cat with a scorpion decat for the fitment and sound, seeing as though it will be scorpion to scorpion it should eliminate the fitment issue, is your system all OEM?

As far as I know it's all completely OEM - no paperwork to show it's ever been changed in the cars history! Yeah, I heard that about Scorpions, but chances are I'd replace it with whatever new exhaust BTM come out with, or something custom from ProSpeed if that makes any difference?

Mine whistled and it was the Cat which had a crack in it at the rear joint. Birchdown welded it up and it was fine then.

This was the problem with mine, new clamps every few week and loads of silicone but it kept coming back. The cat had a crack in it just under where the clamp goes. 2nd hand cat and its not whistled for about 6months now.
