^ Good point

I'm guessing it will reduce engine movement but will more than likely put more strain on other mounts

can i ask what improvements they make, and are there any cons?

You get instant power transfer, no energy is spent on the rotative forces imparted by acceleration or engine braking. The only negative, if applicable, is the transfer of vibration, this is harsher with these mounts, but you cannot have it both ways and these offer a fantastic compromise without going solid.

thanks; i don't think it's something i'd be looking to do for a little while but, not being happy with the standard mounts, it's something i'd like to try

i guess forum reports with opinion on the difference will filter through, but do you have an otherwise standard demonstrator?

Ill be purchasing a set of these shortly as im 99% sure mine are FUBAR'ED im getting a fair bot of engine movement and banging when pulling away hard.

How easy are they to replace? just a case of support engine on jack and swap them over?

Got myself the drivers side uprated mount through today seems pretty solid gonna fit it tomorrow. Think i should of bought gbox mount to even out the stresses aswell but i have only recently replaced that one.

Well fitted my drivers side mount today and it seems to have helped the knocking i was suffering. The decat i have has quite a large flange so since fitting it i have always suffered some knocking noises on acceleration.
Also the engine movement the car has had when lifting off has virtually gone hence making the car feel better through the box. I suffered a bit of knock in first on a damp road earlier but thats it. Overall im impressed the only downside is that there is more vibration through the car any creaks etc are now louder and the rear view mirror vibrates a bit at speed.

One last thing is that i Think i will end up changing the gearbox mount as when you rev the engine the engine does now not shift near the new mount but flexs by the gearbox side a lot more. So i dont think the box mount has a long life to look forward to.

So is that £90 for the Upper Engine Mouont and £90 for the Gearbox Mount??

How much are OE Mounts from Renault??

K-tec do OEM replacements for 65 and 18 respectively.

Very close to ordering one of these mounts. Trying to weigh up the pros and the cons.

Fitted one of these mounts today. Again, I suppose I'll reiterate what has been said above. There's more vibration through the car but it's something that you only feel while stationary, it's masked in most all other occasions by road vibrations etc.

Again, some minor vibration in the mirror at speed. Lastly, the engine note seems to be louder (maybe I'm just imagining this though ).

Plus sides, car feels better. Feels tighter, and feels like it picks up better. The new mount has completely eradicated any knocking I was getting.

Worth it, I don't know. I'll reserve judgment until I have a bit of spirited driving in the car. Did 170 miles in it this evening but they were bored, uninspired roads. At the moment, thumbs up. :)

Ridiculously easy to fit. Much easier than the bloody ARB bushes I did today ... :dead:

Done a few miles with it fitted now and the only downside is the vibration its only noticeable for ten mins when cold my dash rattles like a b**ch. Also the increased idle of rs tuner doesn't help.
I have managed to dampen it down with some thick rubber that I cut to shape and fitted under the mount and this has helped.
But again i get no knocking at all now which was a prob, as i have a decat with quite a large flange so there is minimal clearance and it used to knock all the time. Also got to agree with the car feeling tighter to drive and has a nicer feel when you put your foot down.

i'm seriously considering a pair if these - do you guys who've fitted both feel the vibration is uncomfortable in a daily driver? i used uprated mounts in a previous car and really liked them, although (tbh) they were a little too much for a road car - but, from the tone of people's posts, these don't sound that harsh - ?

try mine out sometime next year bud, got the uprated dog bone and the gearbox mount, will be putting the upper engine mount on in the new year, tho the juddering hasnt gone completely but thats totaly down to my fucked clutch lol engine is very tight in there no increase in vibration that ive noticed seems a worth while upgrade in my opinion

Mine is a daily driver doing 20k miles a year! I've only fitted the top one. If and when the mount under the battery goes I'll decide whether to replace with OEM or put another one of these mounts on. These are fairly solid, and you will certainly notice the difference. In terms of whether or not they're too harsh for a daily driver that's just personal preference, just like loud exhausts, squeeky brakes, loud decats, stripped interiors, fixed back bucket seats ... some people love them, others can't stand them.

Like this year I hope to be going 6 or 8 trackdays in 2009 plus a trip back to the Ring again and the RenaultSport day in Spa. The trade off in noise and added vibration is covered by the abuse the standard mounts take when tracking the car.

Tempted to get these for when I get my 72k Service as I'm sure my Gearbox Mount is on its way out :(

  RS RIP
Do'nt do just one of them; i would defo do BOTH the two top ones (and maybe leave the dogbone OEM.)

I do'nt know why people just do one side ? Imagine one side (passenger) of the engine being able to move , the other side held stiff into place.. is not going to do any good in both wear and how the car drives , engine being torque/pulled to one side everytime on hard driving

When I took off the drivers side mount it was actually sheared through, completely. The rubber was absolutely perished and the only thing holding the engine/mount in place was the bracket that comes on the OEM mount. So the engine was basically flapping around in the bay with most of the torque/twist being sent through the mount under the battery.

Even doing this one mount is an improvement over what was already there. The car still has to be used as a daily driver so some practicality has to be retained and at the moment bolting the engine to the car through a series of solid mounts is not desirable in a road car. One I can live with, two maybe not. The mount under the battery is still in perfect nick, all knocking has stopped and at the point at which that mount goes I'll consider whether it's worth replacing it with an OEM one or whether to go with one of these mounts.

Adeyspec has stated that he's swapped just the gearbox mount without having done the l/h engine mount and hasn't noticed an increase in vibration.

my last car (205) had a very similar mount lay out and i did notice that (of the two mounts being discussed) uprating the l/h engine mount made the most difference (both in terms of tightening the drive - and of increasing vibration), whereas the gearbox mount didn't make much difference. need someone who's got both and has experimented to confirm how it might affect the Clio though

Hi everyone. I was dubbious about changing to dog bone polybush had read on here alot of hooror stories. (mainly by people who had not even tryed them). just like to say its the best £50 ive spent, yeah slightly more vibration only noticeable when stationary but i much prefer it to the engine moving on partial throttle. can hardly feel the engine move about at all now. cheers K-tec
