New member in NW with RS 182 / Cant decide on a new set of wheels

  2004 Clio 182
I know some people might say these two wheels are in different leagues but I think I prefer the new FOX alloys with the blue Fox logo to match my blue 182 with heavily blacked out windows at the rear..
I have some Team Dynamic 1.2's in Anthracite on order at Wheelbase but then I saw these :

I like the look of them and much cheaper than a set 1.2's..BUT!! Will they be much heavier or not look as good when on the car...??

Yes agreed..:) one thing I also know is the customer service at Wheelbase in Oldham is very poor, you have to mother them to get them to sell you the wheels and their doing you a favour. No wonder people just use the internet these days.

I wouldn't it those on a 182. 2118's look great - especially if you manage to get the smaller 15" size and have the car slightly lowered.

Imo - lowering the car on standard alloys is far better than alternatives at standard ride height.

I've been toying with the idea of fitting 15" alloys, my cars already pretty low and im thinking the weight saving and cheaper tyres will be worth it so going for 15" Team Dynamic 1.2's.

Before I go buying new wheels I want to make sure my cars ok, i've noticed a knocking/tapping/diesel sound during idle after the cars warmed up..Read this could be the dephaser or another belt, carbon catch tank or perfectly normal tappets. Either way im calling in at SC Automotive solutions in Walkden as this seems to be the closest specialist to me. The car didnt have a noisy dephaser when I picked it up and the belts and oil where replaced.

Carbon rear wiper blank poor fit. Has anyone fitted a rear carbon wiper blank or other part from Streamline Carbon..There nearly £50 and they don't seem to fit very well over the OEM plastic part. When I place it over it i'm left with plastic showing around the top arc which looks a bit naff..Is it a ball ache to remove the plastic one and just fit the carbon blank..?

Hi mate, where abouts in Oldham are you from, did you get the tapping noise sorted???

Hi 3ppx. I'm in Chadderton, I've done alsorts to the car since buying it including taking the car to Birchdown in Maltham, the timing was out so that has helped it run smoother...It's now at Northwest Performance in Horwich which is closer to have some work done that Birchdown suggested it needed, bent out subframe, wheelbearing and the gearbox needs an overhaul and clutch..Hope its ready soon as it's taking a while longer than told but I have a courtesy car at least. Where are you based in Oldham, do you have a Clio 182 or a Scooby as pictured ?

Hi..Oh what makes you say their a No No!! Their only doing the basic work and Ryan seems to know his stuff about Clio's so hopefully ok. ?

Mate, if your willing to travel to the wirral, i have a very good friend who just specialises in clio's.. Inbox me your contact details and i'll give you a call, the bloke is called Carl and he is s**t hot on Clio's, ive just had my PMS SHIFTER fitted along with front Brembo HC discs and Mintex pads, gearbox oil change with the proper 75w80 gl4 stuff, complete brake fluid change and he did all that in a couple of hours..

You may have seen my C63 reg (3PPX) i also have a impreza sti v4 coupe, and my clio 182...

Thanks but its already with Northwest Performance now and after reading some comments on the 'general feeling' about the place i'm beginning to wish I didn't now..They had the courtesy car I needed and sounds like they can do the job so fingers crossed they dont f**k my car up.

Cheers, I think they seem alright tbh apart from the delay with getting the box out and sent off, not sure what all the negatives were about. I've found a replacement box as mine isn't economical to repair..Hopefully it isn't a dud. How long have you had your 182 ?

Does anyone know where I can find a decent gearbox for my 182 in the Northwest, I had one paid for on ebay and turned out a different box had been fitted to the car so back to square 1..I was quoted £450 for a refurb as my gears had apparently been starved of oil and knackered..?

I've picked one up from a guy in Bingley just passed Bradford who breaks only Renault Sports and has a workshop there.

Does anyone know if fitting air scoops and piping in replace of the fog lights works well feeding a K-Tec induction kit. ?

Since having a gearbox fitted, offside driveshaft and clutch I now have a constant clicky, fluttering noise which goes away once the clutch is pressed and noticeable on at higher speed on motorways. The gearbox had 82k on it but was assured it was a good box, Nothwest Performance fitted the parts and I know they dont have a good rep on here but I cant blame them until I rule out the 'used' box being the issue. Anyone had this issue or ideas what it could be ?
