New owner of a V6.

Thanks for the pics mate.

Worth keeping an eye out for a pair.

No problem, I realise I also have a few close up pictures of the Trophy mirrors too if you’re still considering getting something similar but not necessarily originals they may be of use to you if you’re looking for a close match. Let me know and I will upload them.
The new wheels just add to the overall look, am I right in thinking that the Phase 1 doesn’t require spacers for them to fit? Have you got any pictures showing the whole front of the car with brake ducts fitted?

Only the pic posted earlier plus this one,

The Trophy brake ducts aren't going to fit a Ph1 road car!
The battery is in the way on the drivers side and even if it wasn't, the subframe is in the way. I was mainly after the visual effect so ended up cutting 2 sections approx 8" long and fitting them to give the desired look.

No spacers needed for the wheels. The rears sit right to the edge of the wheelarch and the fronts are quite tucked under. Mine has 15mm spacers to the front.
Not going to bother with the mirrors (famous last words etc, etc), not sure they look right tbh. Thanks for the offer on the pics though.

Will try and get a better pic of the ducts however, they're not something that's easy to see on a 2D pic as it's black against black.

Oh right I guess that would go some of the way to explaining why I can’t remember seeing another road car with them fitted.

Thanks for the info, i’m not likely to ever acquire a set now but it’s useful to know on the off chance. They certainly do a good job of filling the wheel arches ?.

Had all the best intentions of stashing the car away for winter, even bought a cover for it.

Ended up driving me nuts and my good idea lasted all of 3 weeks ?

It's great to be driving it again although may re-visit the idea of stashing it away whenever they start putting the salt down.

Mods wise I might leave it for a bit. Manifolds and cats will make it sound better but unfortunately I think that'll be for the benefit of those on the outside, so much general engine noise in the cabin with having the clear engine cover and the existing Quicksilver only overcomes it when pressing on. Wouldn't give a power increase either, would make it use what it's got more efficiently which isn't a bad idea but, in my mind I can't justify the costs.

Toying with the idea of a half cage but same again, trying to justify the cost involved.

Ph2 gearbox is an idea as they have better ratios.

Anyhow, gratuitous pic ?

I've had people take pictures before, but not much recently, although I did have some bird passenger in a nice (what I now know is) santorini blue E92 M3 staring at it last week.

Another maybe mad idea....

Never been a fan of the crappy looking light grey plastic engine covers, thought about flocking but decided against it. Bought a clear cover for the inspection hatch bit from Mr Mossy but initially only used it for an event or similar.....couldn't get used to the extra noise!

Funny how things change, it's now been on for over 12 months and love the noise....so why not do away with all oem covers and put a full size rear cover to the rear? The whole area will likely need a bit of a tart up but no biggie there.

With a bit of luck and a following wind, next week I'll have one that was bought as part of a group buy in the early days of the V6 forum. Likely it'll only be on loan but at least I get to try and could use as a template to make one if needed.

I think with the way the car sits and looks, the view into the back end will suit the madness of the whole thing.

I've seen a carbon fibre cover on eBay. It's not cheap, I think about a grand. Im not fully sure if it's real cf though. And it's from Russia, what could go wrong?
It looks nice though.

Ps, saw your phase 2 wheels on eBay earlier. Do you keep the chromodoras on all year round ?

Don't buy some rubbish off eBay for a V6. Get a proper one, even if you need to have it custom made.

@cat171

Yes, although if there's road salt down in the Winter the car doesn't come out anyhow.

Managed to find myself another set of Cromodoras and the plan is to put Michelin Cup2 tyres on them if my Ph2 wheels sell. If they don't I'll get the new wheels done in a different colour and swap the tyres from the current wheels.

Can't collect them until the last week in June though as, although officially retired, I doing some work for a mate on the Cricket World Cup and won't finish that until June 20th.

Likely to be either of these colours.

@R3k1355

The idea of a full clear cover has been abandoned as I won't be able to sort a neat finish to the plastic covers on the rear quarter panels.

If it wasn't neatly finished it would annoy the hell out of me.

Yellow or white?

White or yellow?

Sodding choices.....at least I have until the last week in June to decide!

Well trying to find a place to paint mag alloy wheels isn't as easy as it might sound!

Ended up with a place in Yorkshire who specialises in them, Ian Jemison Engineering. Not a bad price either, strip the wheels, crack test, powder coat all for £60 + VAT a wheel.

These aren't my wheels but this is the yellow they'll be......and my tyres have arrived
:D
...should grip like a leech with these on. (y)

Well, that's 3 weeks work done....1 hour was all it took to make me remember why I gave it all up.

Now back to car stuff!

Wheels being collected Monday and being taken up to York for painting. All being well the works on the car will be done over next weekend.

Normally yellow wheels would make you look a plonker. That looks so right as does the whole car. Kudos to you.

I know exactly what you mean bud....wondered if I'd need a red nose and big shoes to go with the wheels.

The way I see it is try it, if it works great, if it doesn't then change the colour...fortunately they just seem to add to the madness and finish it off :)

The guy who looks after all the cosmetic stuff on the car has a mate who builds and races VW Golfs professionally.....more importantly, he knows how to set a cars suspension up!

https://www.allumymotorsport.co.uk/

The KW V3s have both compression and rebound adjustment. I know how compression works, I know how rebound works. I don't really understand how they compliment each other.

It's now booked in with him for a once over, corner weighting and set up.

Looking forward to see the differences.
