New std exhaust inc cat £1050!

Hi All

I noticed my exhaust was blowing on my 02 plate 172 so I took it to my local garage who I always use and always beat other prices and they said that the cat has cracked at the join and the baffles have gone all the way to back box and quoted me £1050 supply only. why would this have happened? anyone else had this problem? is this over priced?

I got a quote for a Jan speed sports cat and full system in s.s for £574 are these any good?

well, ooks like its time for a decat and new exhaust, they are quite good, janspeed, magnex.

I have a supersprint which i love to bits, only thing is a bit loud, but you can even get a custom one and tell them how loud you want it.

ps. it happens because Renault uses sh>t & string to make the OEM exhaust, thus charging a fortune when it drops to bits within a few years...

well i did not really want a de-cat as then i have to swap it round for the mot i was told the sports cart as nearly as good and still pass the mot but the de-cat was £116 and the sports cat £299

^^^^Its only four bolts and takes 20 mins to do with a mate of yrs. Easy and you get a bit of a noticeable difference.

yeah i no mate if i had the origanal cat i would do that but its F**ked so i cant use it. but janspped are ok yeah?

Fred mine comes up occasionally with a decat and supersprint, but goes off after a day or so.

I've got the Janspeed exhaust & sports cat on my 182 - nice exhaust note with not being too loud and without any unwanted cabin drone / booming at all. Highly recommended!

yeah mine is on all the time is there a way i can turn it off

you can reset it with the diagnostic kit, but it might come back

Had one on mine for a couple of months without any problems with the dash light.

Highly reccomended...makes the car more drivable and nice to know you don't have to a*se around with changing it at MOT time.
