New to Forum, Not New to Renault

Hi all, good to be here. I’m Craig from West London and this afternoon I picked up neat little silver 182. I’ve previously owned 5 GT Turbos but had to sell the last one I owned about three years ago to raise some dosh for a divorce. I’ve missed it rotten and now I’m back on me feet I treated myself to another fast Renault.

So this is me new 182. Factory standard (yawn), one owner from new, serviced at the same dealer from birth, low mileage and in real good order. Car also came free with two niggles: cracked front splitter and small hole in one of the rear boxes.

I’m going to give it a good going over tomorrow so look forward to being bored with some more pics’.

Welcome, that’s a tidy looking 182 you’ve got yourself.

Front splitters are about £250 from Renault. There’s a carbon fibre one that Ktec do for less than half that, or a lot of people stick a Skoda one on.

Any pictures of the 5 Turbos??

Skoda Fabia splitter from Ebay are £10-15. Madness to pay Renault prices! As for the exhaust most upgrade to a sports exhaust once the OE has had it as again Renault prices are ridiculous and 2nd hand units are rare these days.

Last night I took it out for a 50 mile trip on a combo’ of motorway and A roads and what a f*cking hoot! It was very satisfying to leave a Modern Mediocre Merkel Mobil in my dust when he tried to bully his way passed on the M4. I wound it up to about 110 which was about 20mph after he lost his bottle. I don’t think he was expecting such reaction from a car he probably couldn’t even identify.

The Clio felt very stable on the motorway bit and had oodles of low end and mid range grunt on the A roads. I know you guys are probably used to how fast these cars are but I haven’t had anything remotely like this since I had to sell my GT Turbo three years ago.

This morning I’ve gone over it with a fine tooth comb and I’m happy all round. No plans for any upgrades as I’m one of those annoying purists (not to say I don’t respect those who do upgrade), but at some point I will have to replace the rear pipes. Renault can do one with what they’ll want for an OE exhaust and same goes for the front splitter but there’s no rush and it won’t get used a great deal for now anyway.

Cheers pal, I was lucky as well as it was only 12 miles from where I live.

Absolutely loving it already. Although more refined and modern feeling, it really reminds me of me old 5s.

Here’s a few pics’ of my old GT Turbos. They were both standard: owned white for about three years and sold with 75k on the clock, and owned the tungy for about eight years and sold it with just 24k on it. Miss ‘em both every day... well I did until yesterday ;-)

If you mean where did I open it up: M4 westbound near the Slough jct’. Idiotic I know, especially when the old bill target motorists x10 more than acid attackers.

Cheers pal, it was a bad day saying goodbye to them, especially the tungy. Such is life and thankfully it’s modern equivalent has met expectations.
