New to forum

  Clio 182
Hi, I'm new to forum as just bought my wife a 2004 Clio 182. Bought private and drove for around 100 miles before emission light came up.
Checked the codes and found P03000 referencing a low fuel pressure issue. Suspect after reading through many threads on here that the fuel pressure regulator could be suspect so took advice and now start the car using the ignition on then off then start method and starts great. However just wondering if anyone knows whether this pic shows the regulator for the car ? (The round metal cap to the left of the oil filler cap).
If it is does: Anyone know of a procedure to remove it clean/replace it?
I have seen some of the documents in the download section but nothing specific to this item.
I welcome any help that's available

Welcome to the club.
I believe the fuel pressure regulator is on the fuel rail

Stole that image and its the metal top bit where the arrows point.

Online there are plenty spares to be had to replace it.

welcome

on a 182 the fuel pressure reg is built into the sender unit in the tank underneath the rear bench seat, the round thing in the picture is the VVT solenoid that reads the cams, nothing to do with the fuel system itself

Thanks RTC I haven't even seen that component on my fuel rail
Reading Coops reply I think it might be closer to the mark, I will investigate further.

Just seen the reply button 😊
Hi Coops, thanks for info, It makes sense, that sensor is monitoring the cams considering its proximity on the head.
I will check to see how to get into the fuel tank once it has emptied a bit.

Rear bench out, behind drivers seat sits your fuel pump.
b*****d getting the plastic collar off though. Tight and made of brittle plastic. I managed to gently drift mine off but be prepared to replace it if snaps into many pieces...

Thanks james I will assume not a simple job when I start.
Not essential to do it right away as starting fine but I suspect it will slowly degrade so will strip and check/replace

that's a misfire code.
Hi Bloke, thanks for correcting me. You are right that is a misfire code. Please forgive my number dyslexia 😌 should have read P0003 fuel volume regulator control circuit low.
There was also an n/a code that obviously can't be read by my cheap scanner, but I had just replaced the pre cat lamda sensor, so could have been something to do with upsetting the emissions.
The previous owner put a sporty exhasut sytem on and a pod filter in place of the standard air filter.
I have gone back to the standard box and it was after this the engine light came on.
I am reading up on elm 327 scanners to see if they can read from the 182 comms'. if I get any useful info I will post on here.

I can also recommend the iCarSoft readers aswell. They'll do ABS etc also

Oh and welcome to the club :)

wouldn't bother with them, amount of times you see people blabbing on about using torque and ho wonderful it is when in reality it's terrible!!

give one of these a try if it's not on the pricey side for what you want...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autel-Maxidiag-Elite-MD802-Full-System-OBD2-Code-Scanner-Reader-Diagnostic-Tool/302319443050?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=20140122125356&meid=20407defe80444d89078ab004f1fd321&pid=100005&rk=6&rkt=6&sd=172787053408&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
Thanks again, I had no idea what these things cost but that doesn't seem too expensive.
The clio has just done 74,000 miles so it is likely to start needing some diagnostics
I have a cheap/simple u480 which read the low fuel pressure code but I will invest in something better if I get other symptoms.

don't think there's any way of it bringing up 0003 code?
From what I have been researching P0003 could be caused by: fuel reg / fuel pump / connections etc.
I presume Renault would change these systematically and hope they find the fault, presumably charging for whatever they replace faulty or not :)

  dan's cast offs.
i mean the car isn't capable of actually generating that fault code.

will check on clip tomorrow if i think on, my money is on code reader cocking the code up.

Oh I see, I wouldn't have thought of that. Would certainly appreciate knowing if that code output is not possible. Only bought the scanner because K-tech said it works on Renaults where many others don't

Hi Bloke
I've read further into remedies for the emission light and it appears connectors can play a big part in these issues. I have disconnected and cleaned every connection in the fuse/relay blocks plus all others accesible in the engine bay. I understand why they can cause problems as some were so oxidised it was only a matter of time for them to isolate themselves. I have cleared the codes and now wait to see if they return.
Did you get any further info on the systems ability to throw up a P0003 code ?
The more I drive this car the more I understand the following, they really are fun when you start to push a bit :)

  dan's cast offs.
to be honest forgot all about it, had a manic week!! am in tomorrow so will try and remember to have a look then.

got my own garage and spend 90% of the time swearing at clios.

and also forgot again today sorry!!

No probs, there's no hurry. Not sure wether to congratulate or commiserate :)
I hope you have a passion for them, it usually helps. They are French, so I'm expecting a few trials over time.

  Clio 182
Just completed around 300 miles since cleaning all connectors and clearing the emission light and it just came back on again :-(
Looks like fuel pump and reg are coming out for testing to start with !!

  Clio 182
Does anyone know the supply pressure of the standard fuel pressure regulator for the 182.
They appear to come in 3.0, 3.5, 4.5 bar settings !
Just anticipating replacing as a matter of course once out.

  Clio 182
Just some feedback in case anyone thinks they have a similar problem / code indicated.
Something totally unrelated to fuel pressure. I discovered a leak from my power steering pressure switch which I replaced easily and reset the error code.
I did this before Christmas and here we are three months later and code remains clear.
With this niggle out of the way the wife has been driving several times weekly and absolutely no more issues.
When I get the chance to drive, I realise why there is such a following of this fantastic little car. These 182's really are great fun.
It's sad it will be going soon in exchange for an estate car but needs must.
