New (to me) Artic blue 182

  BMW F30 / Clio 182
New bits arrived a couple of weeks ago. I've not got round to getting them fitted yet as I'm at an age now where all my friends seem to want to get married.

Hope to get them sorted in the next few weeks, as I fancy Combe on the 13th.

8kg / 8kg with adjustable top mounts

Ordered the boost module from EFI and set about removing the ECU to be flashed, then it's off to my mates workshop who will be doing the majority or the work.
I'm going to 'help'

This is a ball ache so far!

Anyguidance on removing the ECU cover would be appreciated, I lost light but hope to finish it over lunch tomorrow

So am not sure if anyone is listening ha, but I managed to get my ECU out, in the post up to EFI now.
Will probably do a small write up on it to save people the hassle as there isn't much out there on it and I've already drafted it in word so I don't forget for the refit!

Fine electronics, thankfully not designed in France hopefully!

Ahh haha! Missed that, just saw Siemens which I know to be German.
Maybe it should read 'thankfully not designed in France?'

Last bits gotten!
Fairly certain I'm chatting to myself so may stop updating this thread.

And my ECU came back flashed with the forced induction module from EFI. Massive shout out to Chris @EFI, only stuck it in the post Tuesday afternoon and I received it back Friday completed.

Ok mate, I do too! But you always worry if your own build is boring or your writing style s**t [emoji23]

You've got nothing to worry about Something im personally interested in is the costs involved while going along with the build.. might contemplate building something similar in the future haha

I'm happy to summarise these at some point, I've got an ongoing spread sheet which helps me realise what a t**t I am!
I don't typically record sundries such as nuts / bolts / tools etc.. an example being when I did the tie rods, I went through 2 specialist tools before getting it right. Was a £75 waste of money but worth it for the learning curve to me

Like you said, a little extra money is worth understanding what exactly is going on!

That's part of what I like about the forum. I learned everything I know about my 172 from threads on here!

Fortunately for me my Missus step brother is a very talented mechanic who has agree to help me (do the majority whilst I make brews) with the turbo conversion.
This was the state of play when we left it last weekend

Unfortunately we had a few hiccups. Firstly was that on the day we were due to start my battery was completely flat which triggered an immobiliser fault! Why these things happen on these days is beyond me.
As I was sat having a poo contemplating life, I came across a post on here where someone recommends leaving the key in the ignition with all the doors open.... and it worked!
We lost 2 hours to this and finally got started just gone 11, getting the engine out by around 2.

I bought the turbo kit from a member of the Facebook group, unfortunately a lot of the parts were generic or not up to the job. Not his fault, and the kit could certainly have gone on but I wanted t to be perfect, que another £700 on parts for vehicle specific parts for this at Engine Dynamics.
He also forgot some of the bits and very kindly arranged a courier for the next day.

Whilst the engine is out we intend to change the clutch to a helix paddleshift item with a new valeo cover.

Buy a cheap track car they said, it'll be fun they said!

Car left at his garage as a rolling shell, feeling sorry for itself

Also, I had the alloys on my daily refurbed and powder coated. They are a bit gay but I like em!

Awesome work mate. Wouldn’t worry about the lack of posts by others. My thread is about 38 pages of me cleaning the car or chatting s**t to others. True story.

With the ecu back from Chris will it be a case of putting everything on and bobs your uncle, 600bhp?

:)
