new to this......CAMBELT HELP

  '02 172 Cup
:) Hello, quite simply i would just like to know, where is best to get the cambelt done on my 52plate clip cup. i have just brought it and its due its cambelt as its got its 5th birthday coming up! 45,000 miles on the clock.

i live in the south east between guildford and portsmouth.

the car has full renault service history so far.

any ideas?

THANKS

Dan

Head down to Rentec mate. They are near Portsmouth, they have a website for exact location.

Had mine done there a few months ago. Much cheaper than my local dealerships. Used by loads of people on here, very good reputation. You obviously won't keep the full Renault service history (but thats of dubious value anyway IMO!).

No problem.

Remember that where ever you get it done it should be cheaper than a 172 FF as the Cup does'nt have the air con gubbins getting in the way (less labour).

ooooh yeah good point.i have only had it two days so far, its absolutely amazing! but i really want to get the cambelt sorted fast for the risk of it snapping!

Yes, I'd get it done pronto if I was you. Not worth the risk of it letting go.

They are great cars. Had mine for about 18 months now and still love it. Still really relish any opportunity to go out and thrash it! Still learning little things about the handling and how to drive it well though. Be carefull on cold or wet roads particularly. The back end is quite lively on the brakes and lift off oversteer is easy achieved!

haha glad to hear it. its cause of all the glowing owners reviews that i went for one of these. im 19, so insurance (fully comp) was quite high but its definately worth it. bit of an upgrade from a 1.5 Diesel 106! i knew i needed money for the insurance and cambelt service when i brougtt the car, so i have a spare £1k to hopefully cover the service!

cheers for all the advice mate, 3rd gear for me is sucha fun gear, i beat an '03 beamer 330i last night. going through camberly by the huge tescos with lots of traffic lights and 3 lanes =) the look on his face! he backed off at about 80mph.

but i really dont want to be one of those kids who write off their cup being a bit too silly to begin with! =S
