New tyres question - get rid of new budget tyre?

Car  Looking for 182
Hi all,

My 182 currently has 3 x Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2's which are close to legal tread limit, and a practically brand new budget tyre (Infinity or something).

My question is; shall I replace the 3 Michelin's with new Michelin's, and keep the budget (which is on the rear), or shall I just get 4 new Michelin's and keep the budget tyre as a spare?

Money isn't massively tight, but the £100 saved can go towards something else.

Thanks

New Michelins all round , budget tyre as your spare for emergencies only , otherwise you've got 2 different tyres offering 2 different levels on grip . If you had to anchor on , especially in the wet the budget tyre would let go before the Michelin which could potentially see you lose the back end .

Never mix tyres .

Had PE2 on the rear when I got the 172 and budget on the front and going round round about nearly put me in a ditch in the wet @ about only 20 MPH or so . Got PE2 on the front and same round about in the wet solid as a rock @ about 35 MPH . Would never have Budgets on a car ever again.

In Sweden its illegal to have differnet types of tires on the same axle. For a good reason, its dangerous!!

Errr its only whether you have different ply tyres or steel radials on the same axle. Its not advisable to have an assymetric tyre and a directional tyre on the same axle but its not illegal.

i put 4 budgets on my car last year and it was my biggest mistake it handled like crap and slid out in the dry. had them on 4 weeks and got rid of them. imo get some decent tyres all round

you have a performance car that argubly handles best in class so why ruin it with cheap crappy tyres. one thing never to be cheap with on performance cars is brakes and tyres......
on the other hand ther are cheaper brands that offer very similar quality/performance that could save you a few quid to put towards some good brakes/suspension.

keep the new budget tyre though as it may get you out of a puncture situation some day but dont go using it for spiried drives...

I agree with not putting budget tyres on a performance car, when i bought mine it had pzero nero's on rear and front was a mix of fulrun and infinity. OMG!!! how bad the front was in any condition! the fulrun was worst, more like very funrun!! had them changed last weekend to pzero's all round and what a difference!! very good for the price!!

Hankook v12 evo. Better tyre than the pe2 IMO, and cheaper. Have a search on here and google. In last years german summer tyre test the finished above eagle f1 assymmetrics.

What like? Some go faster stripes or an "air filter" or a s**t sounding aftermarket exhaust? :P Seriously £100 saving or extra cost on tyres is not a lot when it's one of the biggest aspects of any car.

The car will probably handle better too, not just on the limit but in terms of tracking straight and steering feel etc. I often find budget tyres or mixed makes in general are slightly different dimensions which on the front makes it pull to the left or right.
