Newbie wanting some advise and a 172 phase2



  Clio 172 Ph2 in Silver
Hi there peeps, I'm in the market for a clio 172 sport, phase 2. I'm moving a notch down from my immaculate Subaru P1 which I've just sold over the weekend. I just didn't get the use out of it I was hopin and need some cash for a deposit on a house plus I didn't trust the other half to drive it & care for it like I would.

I really want a red or silver one with options. I've seen one which has 60K on the clock. The car will only do 5K miles a year so not too bothered about the high milage. Is there any thing I should be looking out for?

I'm looking to spend around £5K- £5.5K, do you know of any nice examples around this price, I'm located in surrey.

Also what mods can be done to these cars to increase the power, comeing from 280bhp I know I'll be fiddling with the engine. Also what is the name of the wheels on the cup? Do they come in 17 or 18's and in replicas?

Check the serviving out here 60k is a common time to sell as the next serice the 72k is cambelt time ie expensive.
Not much canbe done cheaply as its not turboed unlike the Scoobie. Still manifold working and an induction kit or exhaust and a decat give decient gains depends what the cars like beofr ehand there are quicker and slower ones out there.

The Cup has turini alloys they do come in 15's aftermarket fitment in a slightly different offset or front Renault in the correct offset. There will be similar style alloys in different sizes if you want.

reds the best colour...But for ur budget you'll only get silver...at a push.

cambely replacement @ 5years or 72k is expensive & most standard exhausts dont last much longer than 3 or 4 years

Nice P1...I've 'stepped down' if you like from Subaru ownership too...I think you'll find the running costs of a 172 very good after the P1:D
