Newbie with broken clio

Hey guys (and gals?)!

Just found your site.

I'm a previous renault owner based in Oxon.

Recently aquired a ph1 1.8 16v (£100) , with a snapped cambelt

Would anyone be able to give me a few pointers on damage done?

(I was a passenger when the belt snapped and we were rolling in traffic at about 5 mph)

bent valves, either get a second hand engine and swap it or change the head

i was in a car when the belt snapped and we pulled straight over from going about 30ish. when a new cambelt was fitted it had a very very slight tick and that was all.

will have bent valves for sure, mine broke and it was idling, bent 2 valves! as fred says get the head off and swap it/valves or get anothert engine

get a 172 engine off ebay and put it in the valver :evil:

a few hundred quid will sort it -

as said 'bent valves' but prob. not all 16!

if engine was sound beforehand, defo fix it!

buying second hand can be very very risky - lots of shite out there

Yeah, engine WAS good. K reg, 80k...

I'd rather fix it then then transplant another lump to be honest....
