Nice n Fair Hothatch review

nice review with no partcular bias, simple aussie style. Give it a read. say that in gear the wrx can feel sluggish sometimes compared with the megane225 (probably due to its twin scroll turbo so only tiny Lag).

http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/article.aspx?id=8764&vf=1Link

"The Renault does 95 per cent of what the WRX can do (the Subaru has the edge on grip in extreme driving conditions) but does it in 200 per cent more comfort."

"The Renaults power is more accessible and its more comfortable to drive on bumpy roads or around town. Its so responsive that, at times, it can make the WRX feel sluggish. And the Subarus normally excellent brakes feel wooden by comparison to the Renaults race-bred Brembos, which have a wonderfully sharp bite."

is that from holden (we hate scoobies) owners club?
always a critic.. for ages they have raved out the wrx and they said only by a margin was the megane better, but it was better all round. just posting the link, i think its unfair to be critical. as fasr as i can tell they are sport on with their findings, they dont slate any of the cars.

just really to say they dont get much good praise but there not that bad. they are as fast and actually faster 1/4mile than a wrx impreza. quite good considering the much better safety and features of the megane and the comparative price.

like i said its a totaly fair review, if anything though its unfair to compare the more expensive 4wd impreza against hothatches.

Yeah but who buys a scooby which isnt a Sti?
people who dont have £27000 pounds to spare. People who cant afford grp 20 insurance, people who dont want to be in single figures MPGs and people who dont want expensive services and people who dont want to look like they have ram raided halfords.

the wrx is still grp 19 and returns 28mpg. and the megane can comfortable get 35mpg and is ins grp 17.

just some balance on that argument.

Not sticking up for or slating anything. Its a Mild Post, no aggresion for once pls.

buying a car of that price isnt all about performance and taking into consideration our naff brttish roads and high fuel prices i think sacrificing 5% ultimate performance for a more GT approach is a much better idea.. bit like getting an aston martin over a ferrari if you see what i mean

^^^ agree.

actually i makes sense that review as they mention the 1st gear in the wrx as better than the megane as far as power is concerned. that most likely why (aswell as 4wd) that the 0-60 figure is lower on the wrx slightly.. but have driven both a 04 wrx and 04 megane and in gear the megane is smooth more refined and yes does seem to pull harder especially over 80mph when the wrx starts to lose that initially (to 60) awesome pace..

horses for courses. good review IMO.
