Nico's 172 PH2 OEM+ Thread

Hi Guys,

Using this thread to document some of the progress of my new 172.
Just got the 172 on Saturday, she was looking pretty sorry for herself with some crappy stripes some mug had put on.:(

After a shed load of Tar remover and a fairly decent clean she is looking like this:

Out with the old sticker, in with the new -

So far I have bought over the weekend:

Silvertec Indicators (fitted)
Civic Type R Aerial
4GB Memory Card & Mini reader
Goodridge Brakehose
Flat Wiper Blades
Steering Wheel Stalk Adaptor
Alpine CDE-100EUB
Tax Disc Holder
6000K HID Bulbs
Skoda Splitter
Chemical Guys Spot cleaner

Jobs to do:
Full Service
Fit all the above
Remove Fogs to drain goldfish bowls
Remove Alloys for a deep clean
Clean some small stains on seats
Small detail at some point, few scratches that need polishing out
Possibly a refurb for all 4 alloys

Parts to buy
Sportlines
Brembo Discs
Freddo Pads
Samco Induction Elbow
Ktec Stealth

Trying to keep it OEM as possible and will only be upgrading the more expensive items above then the old ones are on the way out.

Thanks for looking

Nico

Can I have the stripes... they're reet smart

Personally, I think "Cup Spoiler" and leave it at that... nice looking motor!

Cheers mate, just checking the bay for some spoilers now. Oh I need to get some
Citroen Washers
Replace the NS Headlight washer (ball is missing)

Where is best to get the headlight washer from? Renault?

Thanks again

Nico

Haven't posted in a while just had some updates so far I have

Parts fitted:
New Alpine HU
Citroen Washers
Silvertec Indicators
Civic Aerial (signal is a bit weak)
Flat Blade wipers
LED Number Plate Bulb
New Number plate - N7 CXO
Tax Disc Holder

Jobs Done:
Removed NS indicator and cleaned, seal was bad
Removed Chewing gum/other crappy marks from the seats/door cards using chemical guys spot remover (rated)
Cleaned Seats using Zymol Leather cleaner
Fixed rear number plate wiring loom, it was corroded bulb had blown

It has also just come back from a full 5 year service at Birchdown including
Cam & Aux Belt
De phaser Pulley
Skoda Splitter fitted
Goodridge Break lines fitted
6K HIDS fiited
Exhuast heatshield fixed
Top mount washer fixed

I had a few problems, firstly was expecting the car back on the Friday after I had dropped it off Thursday. When the brakelines were being fitted the drivers side calliper was badly corroded and the where the old line was attached it dropped off when fitting the new one. A new calliper was ordered for Monday. All sorted on Monday and went to pick up the car. As I was driving away the engine management light came on:(
Back to Birchdown and the ECU wasn't flagging up any codes at all? Steve cleared the codes and I drove to North Wales.
Was fine until this morning when I went to work and the light came on again! So took it back this afternoon for another look, still no codes found, but a couple of things were reset. Touch wood these seems to have sorted it!
The car is driving great, and the service and belts mean it is running like a dream. Thanks to Andy and Steve who have been really helpful.

Also on a side note, whoever had taken the bumper off before me had made a right f**king dogs dinner and not replaced a number of screws/bolts and used some that had corroded to the point where I had to cut them off. Also the splash guard under the bumper still wont come free as one of the bolts is spinning on itself! Idiots!!

Jobs to Do
Foglights have been ordered from ebay these need fitting
Glovebox light is out and replacement bulb seems to have no effect. Any ideas?
Brakes are fading easily - Pads and Discs (fronts) are on order
Scratch N/S rear interior trim (where the seatbelt comes out). Needs replacing - ebay £20
Wheels need a refurb
Needs a good wash/claying asap
Drivers side door is creaking - needs grease.
Replace the NS Headlight washer (ball is missing)
Fit Stalk adaptor

PHOTOS COMING SOON!

Nearly finished!!
