Has anyone played Let’s go Pikachu. Getting the kids a Switch for Christmas and my lads have got in to Pokemon and prefer the OG generation, probably because that’s all I know when they ask questions 😂 I can’t believe how expensive it is, to say it’s like 6 years old?

As a general rule of thumb.
The good games hold their value for years on end.
Zelda and Mario Kart for example are still strong money and they were original release games.
So if that's still high in price 6 years on, it must be a decent title.

Fair point, cheers! I’m hoping to be able to use it myself a bit. Got an OLED bundle from John Lewis for £269.

It's a tremendous gaming device. me and Luca have had proper fun on it since purchase. Oh and Mario and Sonic Olympics still plays very very well years after release, as do all the games.

My daughter wants a switch for xmas with the princess peaches game…

Ok for an almost seven year old?
We bought Luca it when he was 6, i'm not into giving him tech like ipads etc and thought it was a nice compromise and something we could do together, it's been brilliant. All the mario games are great, mario wonder he played so much with my missus.

There is the obvious learning curve but so much better than a kid taping an ipad screen, I don't want him doing that, so we have some games of the switch a few times during the week.

We bought him the special edition Zelda model oled, pre owned, it's been flawless. Oled is worth the upgrade for battery and screen imo.

Cheers Gally!

I thought about getting the Mario party game as well and a few controllers so we can all play a bit too.

Having 4 controllers is a good idea or get a couple of "8 bit" controllers. Mario Kart obviously a must. We have a lot of games, 95% pre owned but they still hold good value.

Mario party is great fun (bear in mind I played this with Mrs and mates, no kids)
Can be super competitive.
You get 2 controllers with the switch so just buy a 2nd set of 'joy cons' and jobs a goodun

@seb

Just an idea of some of the games we picked up or he bought for birthday etc. Think we only have 2 or 3 digital games.

Just realised they aren't in order which is upsetting my OCD a little.

Looking at a switch for the 4 year old.

If anyone sees a good Black Friday deal can you let me know.

Bit of minefield but I’m guessing best bet is the oled and then just some extra controllers ignore all the accessories?

Definitely go Oled.

We picked up a controller for ours which is more of an XBOX style.

I'll have a word with my lad later but I think he might have a few games to sell before Christmas so I'll post them in here if so.

This bundle seems to be coming on and off ‘sale’ from various stores, I picked one up from JL for the kids for Christmas last week for £269

If it's for a 4 year old I would recommend a Switch light as it's more durable with the joy cons built in.

This if you are planning on using it purely as a handheld. But if you want to display on TV you are going to have to go for a regular switch.

Definitely want the full Switch so we can play games together as a family, especially me and him on the TV. Needs to be more of a social thing than him sat in the corner playing alone.

The boy has got Lego Jurassic world for sale. He wants £10 for it. I imagine it's only a couple of quid postage.
