Rang up for a mk2 172 today 03 Plate 16k... only problem is it has no service history, not really clued up to what this could mean. Will a HPI check still be spot on ? with a car with no history.. its trade, and he wasnt too helpful over the road!

So whats the deal with no service history? will a HPI check still tell all?

Service history is stamps in the book

HPI will only tell if its been in a bump or finance still on it etc

Only thing with no service history is theres no gaurentee belts etc have been done, but id be quite confident a 4 year old car will have been serviced a few times in its life!

Other thing is mileage, with it being low, it could have been clocked, and then service history showing correct mileage binned

HPI will tell you if it has been involved in an accident or has any outstanding finance.
With 16k on the clock it's not the end of the world if it has never been serviced but I'd expect the price to reflect that.

Cheers for the fast replys.. he wants 5.6k for it.. if I can get him down to 5.4k I reckon it will be a decent buy, with some spare to run it through a decent service. Might try and get some details of the previous owner, not sure how helpful they will be thought
