No NCB

Well im meant to be buying a car today and had been doing insurance qoutes with 1NCB but i remembered today that i had cancelled my previous policy after 10 months to get £162 back.I have tried the qoutes again and its now around £500 extra.Should i ring them and ask them if they would honour the NCB?I very much doubt this as it wasnt a full year but worth a try?
