No power steering to get more power.

Car  ph 2 172
The power steering it´s supposed to take mechanical power from the engine. In a revy engine as the 172 this may be a lot of power.
I wonder: if I remove de piston from the pump or just remove the whole thing and replace it with a regular "non power" steering the increase in power whould be significant?

I wonder how much power it will gain I don't expect more 2%

If you have a full fat...you could bin the air-con aswell :)

Mike@Rentech has done it and he's seen some decent power in his coupled with other mods. No idea what it'd be like on its own as a mod though??

170.2 atw, no ac or ps. Pulls like a train, only other mods are 182 engine with 172 manifold, de-cat, exhaust.
I have used a clio dci steering rack, and with my little wheel its a bit heavy when parking but on the road driving its fine.

was it for an electric steering setup mike? didnt know they did a dci with manual steering,,
mines got the standard 1.2 rack that was used when it had the 1.2 electric steering setup at the mo, seems to have quite a nice feel to it without it being electric any more

should really have the electronic colum the rack I have, but it dont bother me.
You can get a normal rack for them, but I cant remember which varient of clio has it.

same as i'm doing mate
problem with a manual rack that actually comes as a manual rack is it will be about 2.5 turns to lock where as the ones we are using are 1.5

almost like a quick rack when coupled with a normal column
