Nokia 6280, memory status ideas?

I've had this phone for over a year now and it's doing ok except the available phone memory has dropped from 6mb as standard to just 1.9mb! I now cannot receive a lot of text messages etc and have to keep deleting things to free up memory. At one point I had 500+ messages in my inbox (which i deleted) but I now can't get above 15/20!
Anyone any ideas what's happened and how I'd go about regaining the 'lost' memory? :S

Nah mate, the memory card is fine at 500mb, it's the phone's internal memory that seems to be nolonger available to use.
