Nokia 770 Internet Tablet

It's possible to use a stylus or if you press the screen using your finger a larger keypad appears on screen. Handwriting recognition is also included but is a bit crap.

No I've not ordered one yet. Several posts I'd read said that it had a protector over the screen but I cannot see one there.

On closer inspection there does appear to be a plastic coating or overlay on the screen but I don't know if that is part of the screen or not :D

play.com still have them available. Expansys sold all 113 remaining units yesterday.

It's a nice gadget, no idea how often it'll get used but at this price that's not a concern.

got my tablet today, impressed so far.
Sowhat are the killer apps for this baby?

I have installed pidgin messenger so far. Loving it.

I installed Maemo Mapper, it's quite a good but basic sat nav option.

Pidgin Messenger is excellent.

I cant even get pidgin installed :(...It keeps telling me its missing parts or something along those lines

how did you guys install it?

Thanks

Hiya!

Does this run off the S60 platform? Just wondering, because the screen would be ideal for TomTom and Viewranger.

:D

Unfortunately not :( It runs on Internet Tablet 2006.

J273 you need to make sure and add all the relevant server addresses within the Application Installer. When you have done that Maemo mapper will appear within the list of available apps and can be installed from there.

I've replaced Internet Tablet 2006 with the 2007 Hacker Edition and it looks far better and has some good improvements. Also appears to be running faster.

Yes you can connect to the net using the bluetooth connection on your phone with the 770, ideal for Web n' Walk

I've just checked my bank account and Expansys have credited £10 into my account which means I got the 770 for £71 inc delivery :)

I'd emailed them after I had submitted my order with a single use £10 discount code I'd found on another forum but had never heard back from them.

My 2gb memory card arrived yesterday and I have configured the 770 to run from it rather than the main memory. Far faster running now :)
