dealing with this situation in work waiting on an engineers report but its bugging me so thought id ask you smart people.

guy takes his alfa 156 to the garage for a cambelt change, 100 miles after leaving the garage it drops a valve. they checked the timing again its fine, belts fine, and pulleys are working so they cant work out how its dropped a valve.

any suggestions

what u mean its dropped a valve.
it runs but missfiring and not firing on 1 cylinder?
could just be a burnt out valve..
i have actually done one on a tspark engine it burnt an exhaust valve...

need to do a leak test and determine what valve is damaged and once you have decided that you can explain to the customer that if it was a timing fault it would have damaged more than 1 cylinder by nature of the design

im dealing with a claim on it mate, the garage phone to say its dropped a valve but its completely ruined the cylinder head. wont run at all. they had changed the timing belt and after 100 miles the valve dropped. but the garage have checked the timing and its fine, belts fine, pulleys are fine

if it wont run at all then the belts slipped and knackered more than 1 valve.
if its only "dropped" one valve or done whatever to 1 valve it would still attempt to run on the remaining 3
