Ignore the camera phone, takes a decent ish picture but changed all the colours slightly!

I decided today to go round to places on what would be a usual week for me, things like work, shopping, mates houses basically everywhere I take the car day in day out... I did this to see what would happen if I stuck a set of sportlines on the car..

Basically out of ten locations six would be impossible on sportlines without damaging the car or ripping the front splitter off!

For me this is ridiculous, theres no point having the car if it can't serve half of its two main purposes, ferrying me around and having fun - neither of which would be granted to me beached on a speedbump!

I know sportlines don't lower much but thank god I didn't stick them on THEN test this out!

Then I realised screw it! all my other cars have been standard height so this can stay too, I saw a fair few cars I'd like to own one day on the way to these places and all of them looked standard to me and lofty or usable as I now term it lol.

So here she is in all her std heighted glory, may she rule from up high :)

Plans are now Whiteline ARB and refurb and stick my koni adjustables on - should reduce the bodyroll without having to resort to lowering. Nath is doing me some Anthracite bullets and my Turini decals arrived today so they'll be going on, paint calipers black then we'll call it a day looks wise methinks.

Comments welcome ;)

Wash and polish, but in warmer times methinks.

Just out of curiosity too I went upto comet/B&Q - you know those hefty speedbumps up there? - the front was 10mm away from them max! Didn't bother going to a few other places after that lol.

This is why i have the shitty splitter that mk2s come with. I dont care if it gets ass raped by speed bumps n such

If you talk to Faulkner nicely, they will make you some uprated lb springs, matched to your Koni's, at your standard ride height .... Perfect ;)

I wouldn't know what to ask for! I wanted some for the williams but when I asked me about poundage I just went errr....

I think the car looks high if you take a picture of it low down, 99% of the time you see a car stood up as does everyone and it looks fine to me :)

Get some Prolines. Really wont touch the hight much, but will tighten it up nicely imo!

I also really cant see you having any problems with sportlines either!!!

My Cup with sportlines..... You'd be doing well to rip that off imo

Looks really nice. Do miss my old 172 tbh. Xenons, auto lights etc - was also a really well built one. Shame.

So trophys are allowed to look high because its a trophy but any other 172/182 has to look low is what your saying ;)

I know what your saying matey but yours is already lighter being a cup, if you look at both our side on pics yours looks the same as mine is now on std springs!

Strange. My 172 is lowered about 50mm on h&r's and does around 16-20k a year without any probs with speedbumps etc..

I know!

If you look at the first pictures see that kerb I'm parked next to? well I checked against that, if I lowered the car at all I'd rip the splitter off trying to get on that kerb, and thats a fairly low kerb!

These sports seem to be lower that my williams was but somehow look much higher on their wheels!

Right, I've given in, I was going to put the sportlines on when I did the dampers but thats going to take longer than I thought. SO! I'll stick them on in the meantime and see how I get on. Won't hurt for a few weeks if I'm struggling and I can then look into getting some custom springs made up if need be.

Watch this space!
