OBD Switched live

Just picked up an obd for my 172. Was planning to install it permanently, but it looks like there is no switched live to the obd port as it remains on when them key is out of the ignition.

Does anyone know of a way to change this power feed to a switched live without doing any damage? Googling's got me nowhere

Are you handy with electrics? If so, find a switched live for the radio, power socket, etc, and take a feed from there.

Not sure if the bod needs a live feed though. Usually these type of threads end in tears though. Lol

There's a switched live on the cigarette lighter.

it will as some things need to be done with ignition off when you are using clip.

sooo.....put a 2 in 1 out switch (toggle) on it so I can switch to perm 12v if needed?
not always running clip, but want to run a OBD reader permanently.

I have my ODB plugged in at all times, and never had any draining issues. Car rarely stands for more than 2-3 days though.
