well whatever 7% off the list price before VAT is to be exact. i think its around that price...

Also got offered £8000 for my 26000 mile 182 FF in racing blue with cup packs. The £8000 offer for was a change over to a 197 late september so not a bad trade in value imo. The condition was i kept the 182 under 30000 miles.

I reckon i will wait till Dec/Jan time to make my mind up as prices should drop further and hopefully Renault will up the spec a bit... you can always live in hope!

What are the best prices people have found/got so far?

Went out for a proper drive in the 197 aswell. Car was a bit tight as it had only done 350 miles but they said i could redline it so obviously i did.

Simply sumarised

gearbox - muchos improved.

seating position - a million times better.

engine - felt tight but i prefer it without the 5k kick. Felt just as quick as the 182 to me tbh.

handling - felt f**king superb to me.

brakes - immense. a lot better than the 182

I think the 197 has evolved on form the 182 in a good way and has taken away the crudeness and harshness of the 182. If you drive it sedately it is a very comfy place to be. If you want to thrash the nuts off it it came alive!

It won't be to everyones tastes as many people prefer the mk1 to the mk2 clio for example.

However for me, it feels a million times better than the 182. Getting back into the 182 made me see how bad the gearchange really is and the awful driving position.

The 182 is a real twitchy car that communicates really well to you on the road. It is a great country road blast. But i think sometimes you want for something a bit more refined that still can be thrashed.

197 - an awesome car imo.

No doubt people are getting fucked off with the 197 threads but i thought i would stick my 2pence in anyhow... might make people decide whether they fancy a terst drive or not! :)

the best offer I have had is £15995, then between 1.2k - 2.6k for additional options (i.e they weren't prepared to budge), needless to say I wasn't impressed. MK2 V6, *** cough, cough ***

I got 10% off my 197 but its would be an undriven ex-demonstrator. I did push him to 13% but I let him earn that little bit.

I'm not getting mine until sep. I wanted to drive the 197 before I ordered so thats why its this late.

I've booked my test drive for monday lunchtime in a blue 197. I was told 16k standard then 1-2k for options, this was brand new with just delivery mileage.

Havent gone into details as to what they will give me for mine yet, that'll be discussed after I've been out in it :D

I posted a topic a while ago showing where anyone could get them for £15k I think.

Not a bad price from a dealer though.

Fook, 18k!??? Er, Focus ST/Golf GTI/mint Mk 2 Vee? etc etc

Don't think I'll ever be getting a 197, nice as they are..(famous last words)

  182, SRT8, RS4, GT-R
^^ Agreed,I would definately wait to see what the cup version looks like and prices by that time.

Apparently the dealers aren't allowed to give ANY discount whatsoever on the 197....at least for the first few months....any salesman found doing so will be personally fired by the head of Renault UK...or so i hear.
Obviously this doesn't apply to pre-reged demo's that are up for sale.

Guildford SMC have two in red (one has already had a door opened on it, and now has a dent in the door!) and Woking have one in blue which i hear has already been backed into and needs a new rear diffuser and bumper and tailgate work!
A diffuser costs 200 quid.

Im gonna test drive the Guildford demo when it has more miles on and then im gonna wait and see how the new Cup compares.
New style wheels, a small rear spoiler and available in white I hear!
Mmmmmm

my 182 is a 54 plate.

I haven't really considered the megane tbh. I do think it looks nice but i don't really need a car as big as the megane.

I should drive one though i suppose.

£13,500 for a new Cup.
£14,800 for new FF with Cup packs.
They are excellent value. I'd not even consider a 197 when you can get the FF 225 with Cup packs for far cheaper.
