Can't get excited by it I'm afraid, but then i felt the same when the mark 11 phase 2 came out and its grown on me, just doesn't look sporty enough, despite the twin exhausts and big wheels.

They've done a good job incorporating it in my opinion, colour coding it could have looked nasty.

There's so many elements of the car I like. I love the vents in the front wings, the wheels (WITH the indents) look cool.

Love the rear defuser. Even like the rear of the car and like the side views.

However I hate the front end. It sucks. And whats the line across the boonet?

I remeber seeing the mk2 172 and wanting one badly..... This i just cant get excited about.... and the weight worries me, but will have to wait for the test drive to see that.

I just read in Evo that the wheels are 17s... they look quite small to me or is it just because the 197 is bulkier?

There is actually a nice shot of the rear in Evo, but the front just looks like so many other cars on the road, nothing special / sporty about it at all

I don't like it at all, its only saving grace will be how it drives I would hope. Some of that weight gain can almost certainly be sorted with a new rear backbox, look at the size of it on those cut away photos. Its massive! A smaller aftermarket stainless steel jobbie should save a few kilos. Looks like its gonna be fun to fit a decat as well!

I tried to search the old forum to see reactions of 172 MkII but couldnt go back far enough.

I am definitely not a fan of the new shape, but the black one looks really good IMO, subtly aggresive.

But the thing is, one of the things i always liked best in the clio was that it was a true sleeper, especially the mk1 172, the rear end being practically indistinguishable from the ordinary clio, which resulted in a number of highly amusing situations in an every day drive.
