Oil Change

I am just about to reach 1,500 miles in a Clio 182. Should I be looking at having an oil change? If so how much should I be looking at paying and any recommendations of which oil to use? I know the service book says get it serviced at 12,000 miles but it surely would be a good idea to change the oil within that time period at some point.

Any advice would be helpful.

Did mine at around 6000. Cost about £70 at a Renault main dealer.
