Oil consumption on 172

Hi, is it a big oil consupmtion of 5 dcl in 1000 km (combination of normal and very hard driving) for the 172? the oil is motul 8100 5w40

That's 500ml in 600 miles. I'd say a bit high, probably within Renault spec though.

My 182 uses about 1 litre in 2500 miles and has done 60k miles my 172 uses 1 litre in 12k miles and has done 135k miles. That's with a lot of high reving motorway miles.

i forgot to say the car has 140.000 km on clock.

never had any oil consumption to be honest in any of the 3 of my sports

did you changed the oil recently? meaning swapping from let's say ELF to motul? I did this the last oil change and it drank a liter of 300v power in 5k miles (when running elf I went 6k miles without oil consumption issues)

yes this oil change i switched from elf evolution sxr to motul 8100.

I intend to go with motul the next service and if the problem persists maybe I'll go back to elf.
maybe the elf left in the engine combined with the new oil and changed it's properties a bit. I know someone who experienced the same problem in a 197 and after continuing servicving with motul the consumption dropped to normal.

thnx, my mechanic said also that within 1 or 2 changes it will be completely normal consumption.
