Oil Filters

Whilst researching the fitting of a donut oil cooler to my Cup I found an interesting site that lists most oil filters and their applications, cool or what?

Now have donut oil cooler and ready to fit, just not sure at what point to make a break in the cooling system to fit, before the rad or after?

Would it have to be after the thermostat too, sometimes I wish I knew more.

As the water reaches a limit 90 degrees, where is the water temp sender that measures this, in the engine block?

Hi Fred, had to Google heat exchanger, this is one of the explanations I found;
Heat Exchangers
When a solid,liquid or gas has to be heated up or cooled down a heat exchanger is used. In a heat exchanger a hot fluid(e.g. hot water or steam) is used to heat a cooler fluid.
The two fluids will be separated by some physical barrier such as a tube wall or a metal plate. The aim of a heat exchanger designer is to make sure that the area of the tube walls or metal plate is large enough for the required amount of heat to be transferred from the hot fluid to the cold fluid.

So in essence yes, so not a standard oil cooler with a rad exposed to the cooling effects of air. I'm expecting to have the oil heated quicker and kept to below 100 degrees. Also expecting an overall increase in coolant temp as a result possibly of between 5 -10 degrees getting, this info from what I have read. The part I've got\getting is\was fitted to many Renaults and as I've found out a few other marques as standard.

Got any advice as to where to break into the cooling system or in general concerning this mod?

easiest thing to do would be interupt/extend the heater matrix hose that connects behind the thermostat and just loop it round so it goes onto the exchanger, then off again and onto the stat housing.
