Oil for 172cup

What grade of oil does a 172cup take as l have to get some on the way home to top up? Oil has not been changed from new.

reno dont use a 10w 40 well actually they use what they got in stock so yea 10 w 40 sounds right should be 5 w thou

book says elf excilium 5w 40 for the sport engines i use comma fully synth 5 w 40 , its £20 from motorworld

Definately 5w-40 fully synthetic and bear in mind that 5w-40 and 10w-40 are the same viscosity when hot. Both 14cst at 100degC.

The difference is cold crank viscosity and 5w gives better protection from wear on start.
