Okay I have been reading a lot about the eibach springs and I am this close > < to odering them, but just want peoples opinions of the eibachs.

Plus if I order them from k-tec how the fook do you put your memeber number in for our discount.. and how much is our discount again ? cause I dont have my member details handy (DOH !)

Is the handling much improved ? less body roll ? what about ride quality ..

Thx.

Well nice one folks.. I am now much skinter..;)

almost 100 quid for two tyres and 130 for eibach springs.. heh Credit Cards are wonderfull things eh ! and bonus.. thats my membership cost paid for itself 2x over.

Ye the reason I decided to go for these is cause I have heard good things about them, and also good things about ktec so I dont think I can go wrong :)

_KDF, I am in the exact same predicament as you ! I want them but I am trying to find out the best deal, what is the best you have found so far ?

Phoned K-Tec and they quote me £104.50 + VAT supplied and they charge £52.50 + VAT for fitting the springs. Total = £184.48 inc. VAT (APPROX.)

That is a good price. R-Tec are another company I have heard you can get a good deal from. geoff_clio172 got them for £120 fitted from them as he bought wheels at the same time but maybe they could sort out a deal still. I am going to give them a ring now and I will let you know the price.

Dai

*** EDIT *** I am not quick enough at the old typing lark I think ! LOL !

emm.. its was the pro ones I got ? that the right ones ? ktec said they are getting the springs in tommorow so hopefully not have to wait too long to get them fitted.

On a side note, would it be worthwhile getting the camber correction bolts, probably not worth it on such a small amount of lowering but thought I would ask.

Not on the Pro springs. In fact putting the Pro springs without any adjustment gives a little bit of positive camber which is a good thing (vs. the standard 172 setup).

Yep ... getting my signs mixed up. Tops will be tilted in very slightly (vague recollection that standard setup has zero degrees camber?).

So thats a good thing then ? wont it mean excess wear to the outer shoulders of the tyre ?

daipac, not only r r-tec dearer, but somebody on this forum had a bad experience with them. so probs best 2 go 2 k-tec!

Oh right, it gives me an excuse to go to Bournemouth anyway, where I met the missus ! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! LOL !

After phoning my insurance and enquiring how much it would cost to have Eibachs and hearing a quote of over £100 extra to what I am paying now I may hold off buying these till my renewal in July, then I can shop around or I may just choose to lose a years NCB and go somewhere else in the meantime but I dont know if that is worth it. Some people have said not to bother telling the insurance but I dont fancy insuring a car and not declaring that especially when you are talking about alot of money.

Reckon its small enough to not cause harm. That said my tyres are totally worn out around the outer shoulders ...

... but also around the inner shoulders too. Just cant stop going round corners flat out since I got my Eibachs :)

has anyone bought the extra low -40mm springs for the 172 from bb tuning? they claim to actually lower it -40mm unlike most of the other springs for the cup and 172 which claim -30mm but more like -10mm

Cheers folks I will let you know how I get on with them after they are fitted.

K-TEC are recommending the Apex springs in place of the Eibach ones now as these sit better on the rear and actually drop the car by the amount expected.

These are cheaper too - £85

This is for the 30mm drop only though
