Im going to be downgrading my 3.0 beta iphone 3g to 2.11 and jailbreak/unlock then chuck it on ebay before i get the 3GS.

Ive not jailbroke my 3g only did my 2g over a year ago.


Whats the best way for me to downgrade and jailbreak/unlock my 3g?

I've used them on my N95 8GB before but I was hoping (well I was told) there's decent "clip on" protectors to keep the whole thing safe rather than just the screen. I could be wrong though as I've never owned an iPhone before.

Think I'm going to buy iPhone 3GS on pay as you go then pop my contract sim in. Buying myself out will be more expensive plus ill lose my unlimited texts if I start a new contract!!

Had a nice text from O2 yesterday telling me about the new software and how to get it on the phone (plug the phone into itunes after the software has been released, job done) so no need to read the 31 pages of this thread hehe

I use a leather case for my iPhone 3G, keeps it nice and safe.

I'm going to put the feelers out on the Thursday with my local stores... "Say if I wanted a 32G 3GS, do you think I might get one tomorrow" - combined with perhaps a flutter of the eyelashes - and then be waiting at 9am for mine.

Im still undecided as to what to do.......

Currently got a 16g 3g with 6 months remaining on the contract.

Do i pre-order the 32gb white and then sell my 3g for £300+ which will allow me to pay of my current contract and the rest will go towards the phone.


Or Buy the payg 32gb next week and what i get for my 3g can pay the contract off and the rest towards the phone which will allow me to be contract free within 6 months instead of starting another 18 months.


What would you do?

I'd keep what you have. Let your contract expire so you're in a strong position for next years iPhone.

I'm running iPhone OS 3.0 already.

It's not that amazing tbh. It has copy & paste and MMS, both are features that are expected of any smartphone anyway.

Spotlight search is good and I look forward to running apps with the push notifications running.

The PAYG deals aren't that bad really.

Just means a big chunk up front and then monthly deals which sucks.

Last year you could add bolt ons. I know you barely use your phone but you must have some bolt ons?

I reckon I'll keep mine for that reason. I don't want to end up losing the deal I currently have, when the new ones are so much worse.

I'm not sure what they'll be doing with business tariffs but there's no way I'll get 700 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited wifi, 10 free land lines and free o2 to o2 calls for £35 a month.

They are screwing people over with these deals. I want one. Really badly.
