Online audio streaming help

Basically a mate of mine wants to set up some audio streaming but doesnt know where to start :\ He basically wants to get an audio source (decks/hi-fi) into his microphone socket in the pc and wants to broadcast to around 20 or more ppl on the net at around 128kbps quality. What else would he need to do or use?? ( as I have lack of knowledge in this area myself )

ShoutCast can do this i believe but don't ask me how

You need to pay for a Shoutcast server. At those bit rates and to that many people it's not all that cheap.

Ouch lol i'll let him know the prices - dont suppose anyone can tell me how the shoutcast server works??

You connect to the server and upload the live stream to their server. They inturn stream it to as many people as you pay for.
