Open TB

Just been wondering this today. I`ve noticed when people run ITB's with trumpets they don`t use air filters. If this is OK for the engine why couldn`t someone with a single TB run that open without a filter??

rare to not run a filter TBH. a lot of people take the filters off for photos though nice shiny trumpets look cool

Some race cars, or rather their mechs/drivers prefer not to, run filters...but this really isnt advisable least of all for a road car.
