Got rid of the coilovers, the buddy club, and the UKDM front end, and the 15 inch wheels..

Now I'm fully "JDM y0". well kinda, depends how anal you are.

I have a stock JDM exhaust with a decat, stock UKDM suspension and 98 spec JDM wheels.

and sounds like this

 Dat crossover.

Well not quite like that as I've modified the air intake to make it sound less like a wasp.

Does CS approve this time?

This is its final look i think, I might try and get the later rear bumper fitted but that's about it.

Recently started "a proper job" where I actually earn a wage so I'm saving up for an E46 M3

I dislike the japanese front end so I won't comment any further.

Looks amazing! So, so much better.

was it difficult to change the whole front end?

In a word yeah.

Had to get together quite a few parts.

  • Front bumper
  • Bumper grill
  • Headlights
  • Front Wings
  • Bonnet
  • Radiator support from a JDM to be welded

I did the job over 2 days. The condition of the "new" front end is unfortunately no match for the condition my UKDM one was in, BUT I've made so far about 3 times what I paid for the JDM by selling UKDM parts so I'm considering a respray.

I did quite a good job (if I say so myself ) of polishing the JDM front up to my UKDM standard though!

Hopefully you can see the line. Wouldn't call myself a detailer but a bit of time and a rotary polisher can do amazing things!

Think it looks really good, I prefer the JDM front, I find the exhaust a bit raspy sounding though.

The UKDM front end looked better, but can appreciate the work that's gone into it.

Lovely motors. That 2nd picture is neat.

I prefer the uk front end but like the wheels, you and your video's though lol. Seems to go well :)

I read this on PH. I prefer the JDM front end!

Needs to come down lower imo tho.

Cheers, yeah from an aesthetical point of view it could do with lowering, although the way these are set up going only 40mm down results in scrape city from the exhaust and subframe.

It just isn't worth it

Massive improvement, totally transformed the look of the car.

Looks so much better!

Thanks - I agree about the exhaust.

I've come to realise though thats just the sound they make. Fair enough you could go and fit an exhaust to make them sound deeper if you like but after going to all the Honda meets that I have done, this is how a VTEC motor sounds and thats that!

Just looked through the second pics you posted.

my hats off to you for the effort you put in :approve:

Cheers pal. I'm happy with the end result.

I prefer the UK but like both. Seems madness to go to the effort of swapping it to me but then it's not my car. :)

Great effort mate. I do prefer the JDM look! Quite like the exhaust note as well, even at my age.

Think I prefer the softness of the UK one, JDM one looks a little fugly tbh. Not sure it was worth the hassle to change.

Same. On both counts.

Re: the M3. Great idea, but be prepared for financial ruin if/when it breaks lol.

O really? Did you have many problems with yours aside from the head gasket?

I need an M car in my life, was originally going to go with a 330ci but thought why not go the whole hog?

I got offered a swap for the E90 with a 02 M3. I'd love it but the running costs/potential bills scare me.

Not really, bar the usual RTAB's, FCAB's etc. But the headgasket cost £1500 lol, id also want the Vanos bolts renewing as a preventative measure (about £250 at a specialist iirc), then there's the subframe as well ... my main concern was if something did go properly bang, ie engine/box, even 2nd hand parts are mega £££'s, like £3k for an engine

Although saying that, if i wasnt buying a house soon, id have another with no hesitation.

Well a turbo is the only real problem on mine. Turbo's are easy to change. A head gasget on a M? Thats a little more work..lol

Really?

What about DMF, Clutch, EGR Valve, DPF, Injectors, Swirl Flaps... ?

Then of course the turbo, which will be a good £1200.

Scary business with diesels these days! Kinda glad I sold my 320d when I did, although the next owner ran it to 140k without trouble after me.

I just don't think the risk of expense is worth the possibly fuel saving.

I'm probably losing a lot of money by being a scaredy cat but wheh... diesels are never going to be fun to drive for those reasons IMO.

f**k that, I'd do it myself with some tiger seal.

A Turbo will not cost you £1200. £500 for a rebuild. EGR's can be cleaned as can DPF's. E90's dont have swirl flap issues.

DMF and Clutch is the same with pretty much any modern car. RWD makes it easier too..;)

You run a greater risk running something like a Meg R26 from doing my research.

Still, nothing stops them being boring..:(

Mate of mine paid that at a reputable garage for an E46 replacement turbo and fitting, with his knackered one in part ex. Of course if it went on mine I'd do it myself but was just stating figures :)

Yeah you're right. What have you read about the R26? That said, the Megane is plagued with problems.

Sod that..lol! Sometimes i forget how lucky I am having access to a ramp.

R26 seems to have as many common problems as a modern diesel..lol

It's a shame with the megane, it really does play into the "its french..." stereotype :(

I can't believe how many people prefer the UKDM over the JDM fronts. The JDM looks so much more modern.

2 headlights > 4

I'm completely the opposite! Lol.
IMO, the jdm front looks like an old Datsun. The uk one looks very unique.
