opps run out of room again!

Hi just a quick question im after a new hdd I have filled my 2 400 gig hdds with crap from the newsgroups but cant bare to lose it all, so want to get another one but in USB.

Do they make quick USB drives and what’s the max size they do, probably gonna get a fairly large one like 500 or 600 gig what do you guys recommend it must be reliable as well.

Take a while to fill it with .Torrents/Usenet.

To download 1tb would take 25 days or so on a 5Mbps line, maxed out all day, every day.

So 800 days give or take, of pure downloading to fill the beast.

Maybe a bit overkill?

thx for the replies, seen a few decent ones, just gotta make my mind up, and backing up files to dvd is too time consuming and pointless most of the files being movies and tv shows i like to have on the drive as i stream them to the 360.

if your managing to download that much with newgroups then its time i got my arse into gear and started using them instead of torrent, it would take me 8000 days to download that much at 20/sec with the good ol pipex!

Tiger my connection has shot up again, after doing the faceplate mod, it went from 1.7 to 5.9, but now a week later its been constantly connected at 7.5 and my downloads at the moment on newsgroups are going at around 690kbps, i think my line has now settled, download speed may even increase a bit more!

Shame surfing internet is still slow and normal downloading due to pipex throttling and traffic shaping.

Gonna order a 600gig firewire hdd 2day!

ill get the ball rolling tonight! what programs do you use and is it giganews you use? need to make sure i use what your using to be 100% ill get some decent speeds.


ps. according to my router ive been connected at 5.7MB for ages, when i do a speed test on 4 different testers i get between 200-400kbps which is about 25k/sec download speed, utterly ridiculous!

Cancel at anytime, and you can put it on hold for 1-3 months if your away or dont need it.

Thx guys looks like I’m going for the wd 500gb mybook from ebuyer looks like the best deal, while im ordering that might as well see what else I can purchase save on p&p hehe.

btw tiger ignore the online speed tests they are extremely unreliable, they are only useful for testing differences in speed if you make changes to your connection, before and after tests for example.
