Over 140,000 miles. I'm getting nervous.

Been spending lots on suspension and brakes and other bits and bobs on the Clio. I have decided that I want to keep this car, I have really grown attached to it, its been a labor of love.

I'm rapidly approaching 150,000 miles on the original engine. Oil is changed regular enough and come oil change time it don't seem to be burning too much oil (on my last track day I notices it had dropped two bars on the dashboard monitor, took around half a liter).

It does quite a few track miles and apart from being a bit grumpy on some mornings it seems to plod along Lovely.

Should I leave it and wait for it to spit its dummy out someday or am I best starting to factor in a refresh considering the track use etc?

If I should refresh, to what extent? hone, rings and a head rebuild?

Engines in fairness are cheap enough to replace if you can do the work yourself.

If it was me & I knew I looked after it I'd leave it. But that's just me.

as above, half a litre on track is sod all. if the engine seems fine then just look after it like you have been and it'll see another 150k! lol!

If you do sell you will get hardly anything for it so i would just keep until it goes pop then eiether get another engine ( like ive done) or just pick up another and start again. Clio sports have become worth more in parts in some cases than whole

Test the engine's power on a reliable rolling road before doing anything else, that's what I did. Assuming it is std and it makes about 165 hp it's fine, mine was on 159 so I bought another engine. It cost £40 to test it at Surrey RR.
