Pads and Discs, 1.2 Mk2 Ph2

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times.

Just been quoted 140 pounds to have the front brakes replaced, but sure that it is an easy job and can be bought from Halfords for much less and fitted easily/by a kind member off here?

Also have been told that there are four bolts on the underside of the car where the rubber corrodes away (linked to the steering/suspension arms) and these need replacing on one side at 40 quid a side. Again, thoughts?

Any input would be great,

Cheers,

Jamie

Yep discs and pads should be easy. Bought mine for £67 off brake parts international with the intention of fitting them.

Only trouble was old ones where so rusted on and i didnt want to faff about so booked them into the local garage against my will and had them fitted for £80.

Fair enough, sounds like an OK price and I do trust this lot, always been good to me with odd jobs and Dad takes the R8 there.

Any ideas on what the underneath bolts/rubber mounts are??!

Not sure Karl, they said that they are four bolts, two on either side, and the bolts snap and let the bungs/rubber out.

Costing 40 quid a side, but everything is being done for 100 quid (two hours labour + parts).

sounds like the ARB, not sure how much they cost though

but my bolts snapped and made a knocking noise going over bumps

Yeah that's what I am getting, not so much a sound as a feeling through the steering wheel. Could be the end of my frustrations with my steering!!!!
