Pagid Blue pads fitted - initial thoughts...

Splashed out a little and treated myself for the upcoming Brands day and fitted a set of Pagid Blue's at the weekend to get them nicely bedded in over the next two weeks.

First thoughts? Very surprised!

For such a race focussed pad, and with it's extreme operating temperature range I expected nothing at all from them when cold. But when cold they bite better than standard Renault pads! I'm actually having to really work on regulating pedal pressure as they're quite abrupt.

Looking forward to Brands to see if, when really pressed, they as good as everyone makes them out to be :D

Are they worth the extra? Ask me again in two weeks ;)

They are Mark.

I've had mine over 1000 miles now, and done a day at Brands with them. They do actually get better with heat and even with standard valver calipers, they are stunning. I haven't faded them yet.

I agree - I've run mine 90% pootling around town and they are viscious! If you just use a light pedal for a while in traffic they seem to get to the point that they 'grind' and you literally just STOP the first time you use them hard again! lol

I would recommend Blues 100%

I'll be interested to hear your track time experience - they were superb at FCS in 2005 when I'd just had them fitted :D but haven't been on track again since :(

*interesting fact* - the guy from evo who runs the Murcielago says that Blues are standard fit on it ;) :p

Well that's exactly what I'm hoping for from these.

I had DS2500's on my last track outing, and they were toast after less than two laps, good for day to day but not up to track work at all.

I'll be doing my best at Brands to cook these, but having said that, I'm braking a lot less these days...

No, seriously. Yoz ranted on about them for ages to me before getting them, but they are comfortably the best and obviously safest modification on the car, and they actually work (ish) from cold. This is the first set of pads on any car that I've driven that I've not faded the pads on.

That said, next year I'm old enough to be insured on the old man's 997 C S so that may change ;)

Oh, and when you get them properly bedded in and go for a late night thrash on warm roads, when they're properly hot find a long straight with nothing about, get up to a ton and then brake as hard and progressively as you can (trying not to lose the back end lol). It will stun you.

we haven't tried them on the cup yet, we might whack them on with the new MAX discs and see how they go, we ran this setup on the valver and it was awesome (they last forever too!!!)

What are worth going for. I drive realy hard and fast on the road and have nearly knackered my EBC greenstuff pads to bits and has lost performance. Since i own a cup and need to stop alot better i would need a very good brake pads. What would you recommend and why?

road use - Green stuff

road hooliganism/track day - DS2500

but to get the best "feel" i would suggest going for brake lines too

Not the pagid then Hey? Ive already got brake lines and brembo HC Carbon discs. Good setup but need better pads

hows the dust with the blues? pf's turned parts of my car permanently brown

What Fred says ^^^...DS2500 - I never faded them on the road, but with repeated 100mph stops on track they just give up.

Oh i might do a 60mph hard stop. so ive guessed you have answered my question.

I have anthracite wheels so it's difficult to tell on them, but having not washed the inside of my wheels for a year, I took them off and they only needed a gentle wash round with a wool mitt to get 90% of the crap inside off - barely any damage to the finish, if any, and what little there was you couldn't pin down to the pads!

If the pads last forever I take it they chew the standard discs?

not as bad as the PF's, but i'm comparing the valver running max discs and blues to the cup running plain discs and PF's

the blues have been on the valver for over 12months and still have life left

Mine are still basically brand new. I have a 1mm lip on the discs, max!

But yes, as above, they can be quite noisy at low speed but soon warm up :)
