Paint removal from side badges?

Can anyone who has removed paint from their plastic or chrome finished side badges please give me their techniques for safe paint removal as I don't want to ruin another set?

Had a look on the internet and it looks like nail varnish remover or oven cleaner is the way to go!?!

I used a chrome effect paint which looked good until I put the sealer on it and now it looks poo!

use a dremmel.
never fails

Just use some wet and dry to key into the paint then re-do them.
