Im hoping some painters or those that know there stuff can give me some pointers on this.
I've had this scuff since I bought the car, when I first got it I asked my local smart repair man for a quote, he said wait for me to add you to a job so I can sort you out a decent price, It will be around £80. Underneath the scuff is also a small crack at the bottom of the bumper, he said that as well would be £120.
Well its been nearly a year now, hes busy and I think im going to do it myself.
I have nearly all the equipment. Need a base thinner and possibly some better filler (please recommend)
Instead of the smart repair just being the odds and ends masked off and blown in, I would rather have the bumper off, take the fog lights, xenon jet out etc for a better finish hopefully.
I have a compressor, hvlp guns, basecoat, 2k clear, nearly everything for a home job, have done a lot of painting with it but only small items.
I just need some pointers on how to sand and fill, will a rub down of 1500 around the area then filler, primer, colour and then clear be ok?
Obviously im just looking to prep and paint the side with the scuff, so once im finished will the meeting point of old paint and new polish up together?
And what sort of process could I use to fix the crack? I might just leave it its only small.
