Painting wheels

ok Ive done a deal with some mug (hi honey!!) and Ive got my hands on a set of Megane 15" wheels for trackdays, which will hopefully be fitted with those lovely slicks that yoz buys for 50p from the Clio Cup racing teams.

Id like to paint them white. Any tips on the best way to do this?

- Blast to clean/prepare

- Powder coat

Looking at about £25 a wheel for the coating but its gonna be a hard wearing, durable, even finish - if you paint them yourself they will just peel.

cheers - I presume a wheel-refurbing place could do this properly?

i had mine blasted for 10 a wheel, and coated in white for 15 a wheel

was at at shotblasting specialist not an alloy wheel refurber though!

any coachworks / accident bodyshop can do it much cheaper than a specialist refurber.

Id take it to a proper refurber..

A 2 pack paint base will stay on longer and be more durable than powder coating. MOdern paint technology has moved in way beyond what poweder coating is capable of. One chip in a powder coated wheel will grow as it lifts and chips off.
