for those who are interested (and any advice appreciated) we did the following:

1. meguiars detailer and clay bar
2. Poorboys SSR2.5 applied with orange sonus pad
3. meguiars NXT with blue sonus pad.
4. autoglym glass polisher
5 meguiars tyre polish (name escapes me)

I have order some poorboys menazerna (spellin) glaze for the future, but this wasnt available

Nice work guys...looks spangly.
Adtmits - do you fancy doing mine when the weather picks up? Will drop you a couple of quid!

^^ yup it will now be a service.
rich the poorboys was a great product, taking the handle off gave better control and it then was easier to apply the power.

as i said yesterday i will get the proper pics up. as those do not do the work justice! but you can see the tread pattern in the silver paint so must be good eh?

have a few more cars lined up. gti golf. rs4, and a 911, and ml 500 so its looking good

With handle of the machine, you can control what its doing and get more control of the pressure. Glad you found that a handy tip.

Silver is hard to photograph as it's so reflective. Had the same problem with the pics of that white 205 the camera wouldnt pick up on the differences.

Can tell I was tired last nite repeated what ben had already said about the products:eek:

It was a learning process, at first i think we where putting to much product on and as we went on, we learned processes to spread the polish more evenly. Also got a feel for which pads to use and the different speeds to use as well.

You can do all the reading in the world, but until you have a go and get the feeling for the products and the kit.

Want to re do mine this weekend with the poorboys, then my mums black KA and the Maz is the next one.... (well if she still wants it doin) Matt, just let us know when you want it doing.

Over the moon with the result. Its an RS6 we got BTW ben.;)

Running before you can walk ? hope for your sake there arent any mishaps as it wont be cheap to put right on some of those motors.

as prev discussed on other threads, unless you use a hard cut and a course pad. for a long time in one spot then its hard to damage. im not saying you cant but with the rite products. and with some carful prep its hard to damge areas,

I have owned one for over 6months and have used it loads of times so i am aware of that ;) I'm just saying accidents do happen and tbh i'd rather have an accident or a schoolboy error on something cheaper than some of those motors. Also different manufacturers paints vary in how hard they are and some mark/hologram surprisingly easily.

Can totally appreciate what your saying....hence why we are trying the other cars and want to learn the selction of polishes... etc to use. I have delibrately tried to start with some cars for different paint finishes and manufacturers.
