a guy i kno has set up a music forum using phpbb group,

nowhes gettin problems installing, Shoutbox,Hide hack(hide's links) re-directing links to new page etc,

now does anyone kno how to do this? hes tried for like over a week and if offered to do it to him but he wont give me the login details until i kno how to do it :S

phpbb is crap mate.

If he wants to use IPB or vB then I can offer all the help he/you need.

If he's using phpbb he probably doesn't want to cough up for a vBulletin license.

I've found SMF to be more feature rich and far less prone to db errors than phpbb. In fact since I've been using SMF I've never had a db error but with phpbb they were a far too regular occurrence.

its vbulletin more expenisve to do then? iv seen alot ov other music site's using phpgroup and its looks good, il have a chat with him later to try and tell him to switch over
