[PC/XB360/PS3] The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim

This has been getting some very average reviews...I'm not going to bother with it. Never finished the main story anyway after 140 hours, think I got my money's worth!

I don't believe it's worth 1600MS points, but at the same time, as IGN and Eurogamer both said, it's a DLC worth having.

Holy f*ck I must have spent about 4 hours in Soul Cairn this afternoon doing all the random quests (finding the horse skull, finding all 10 pages of Jiub's journal, finding the Reaper Fragments etc) along with doing the main quest in there too. Jeez. Then on the main story I got majorly lost looking for Auriel's Bow and then trying to get back out.

It was a long day! Sorted it all now though and ready for the next quest.

I finished the main storyline now and just wandering around searching for all the places I have missed. I got to the edge of the map finally when trying to do boethiahs calling.

I now want to cure my wolf form and become a vampire

I've got 3 Achievements left to do.

10 Vampire Perks.
Defeat a Legendary Dragon.
Lost to Ages quest.

I've read that to encounter a Legendary Dragon you have to be Level 78. F*ck that, it's taken me about 40 hours to go from Level 69 to Level 70.

I have not played this since the month I bought it just after release. I chose a high elf (I think) using magic and a bow as my weapons of choice, I got tired of die/restart/die/restart/die/restart

And I got an arrow to the knee which didn't help :(

May try again from scratch, in opinions what's the best fight class and route to go down?

I started as High Elf and found it really quite easy after 40+ hours, you should specialise in a magic though if you're that class...I had destruction, restoration and conjuration and then a single handed weapon if I wasn't dual wielding magic.

Yeah that's the route I've gone only I've concentrated more on archery rather than hand to hand combat. That probably my downfall as when my magic runs out I'm fucked when they come in for a cuddle!

Yeh, early on single handed weapon and restoration work really well, I then spam made iron daggers and got up to Level 100 Blacksmithing quickly so got my daedric armour and weapons for me and my companion, Mercurio. When you get master conjuration spells too you can get some pretty awesome extra sidekicks which deal a lot of damage - often you don't have time to kill anything yourself!

I wish I played this before Mass Effect 3, it just seems so slow and clunky and nowhere near as good of a storyline or attachment to the characters. How much time did you lot give it before it started to get interesting?

Is there a list of everything I need to do? Because I've played 60 hours or so and I feel like I've done everything (except mining)

The attraction of Skyrim (and the Elder Scrolls series as a whole) is not really the storyline. If you like being led by the hand through a fairly regimented storyline then this isn't the game for you. Skyrim is all about just going out there, exploring and doing your own thing in your own time. The immersion comes from the whole world rather than compelling storytelling or the depth of the characters.

IMO if you're not 'feeling' it after a couple of hours you're not going to.

Played for another couple of hours today but I could take it or leave it TBH. Just don't feel there's any attachment to the characters at all and just too much pointless stuff going on. Probably for the best anyway

Dawnguard Achievements all done. 60/60 in total now.

Phew. Now I can concentrate on BF3 and other games.

Yeh lack of a story is a weakness though, as otherwise levelling your character and exploring becomes very repetitive and there's no quality conclusion. Found the same with Fallout 3....loved the first 20-30 hours, then became an addiction...then it fizzled out and I never touched it again. Think I prefer shorter RPGs like Mass Effect, although thinking about it the original Dragon Age: Origins kept me hooked for 80-90 hours and the story stayed decent throughout.

Wasn't sure whether to stick this in the Minecraft Thread or this one :clown:

WTF have I done? :S

Just ordered and started to download Dawnguard through Steam when I clearly got bored of the original game. I guess nothing much changes with the inclusion of the DLC?

Started playing this again after having knocked it on the head a few months ago. Kept getting my ass handed to me and found saving after every confrontation a bit tedious.

Anyway, after giving it another blast I came to realise that i was playing on the hardest but one setting! Lol

I have started a new game.... oh god why....

I'm debating whether or not to start afresh too. The most fun I had with this game was in the first 10 hours - just finding my feet with some of the skills and being careful with who I encountered.

My character started to get on that slippery slope of being able to nail a lot of things without much effort and had a skillset that matched the depth of Google's search engine. That's when my interest rapidly started to wain.

Same thing happened to me pretty much. I considered starting a second play-through but I'll end up turning into a hermit for months again

There must have been some form of new leg armour introduced, since I've been back playing I'm yet to meet a single person who's taken an arrow to the knee!

Started playing this again with a lvl35 sneaky character who's s**t hot at archery. Already crafted my own dragonscale armour so i'm fairly strong, but my melee attack is shite. Any good tips for levelling up one-handed/two-handed? Or just go round bashing stuff? Started doing some quests for the Companions but just end up getting nailed.

Is taking stuff from the invisible chest classed as cheating?

I just seems to be hoarding stuff and just don't know what to do with it all, dragon Bones, scales, ingredients, weapons, gems... Can't arsed to run around trying to sell it all aaaargh! Lol

Just bought drawguard and have completely forgotten how to play the game :S This could be interesting for abit :)

Been bashing this again today - up to 82hrs gameplay but only level 38. I seem to level up so slowly - need to go round boshing a few more things. Just done a few quests for the Companions and become a werewolf - still haven't completed Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild and only completed 8 main quests. Easily be 120hrs+ before cracking on with the main story.

I am starting to miss Skyrim a little, think I might head in and finish what I started before Halo 4 comes out!
