PC'd my car for the first time!

Got my new PC a couple of weeks ago from 182_Blue. [Nice birthday present from the missus:approve:]
Bought the 100v plug/transformer/extension etc and started with it last weekend. Had a bit more time on it this weekend.

As you can see on first two pics, the bonnet was quite badly swirled. Couple of afters show just what can be achieved first time!

Bonnet:- PC7424, Menzerna 106FF final finish on white SFX-2 pad, which didnt do much, stepped up to yellow SFX-1 pad, then white pad again to finish off. Victoria Concourse Red wax as LSP.

Also did the boot and roof [before you ask, yes, I'm knackered:dead:]
Boot - used Menzerna Intensive Polish on a white SFX-2 pad working in thoroughly. Found i didnt need to use a finishing polish and went straight to LSP. Again Victoria Concourse Red wax by hand.
Roof - as above but after IP used Final Finish on a blue SFX-3 pad for a nice gloss, then waxed.

Nice! Really like that blue when it is glossy like that... Menzerna is top stuff, although having said that only ever used that and 3m stuff by machine so hard to compare really!

I wish I'd done IP on a white pad to start. The boot and roof worked much faster than the bonnet. All part of the learning process i suppose.

Get that sonus green clay out on yr car mate. It will make a world of difference.

Trust me, used properly [gently] with plenty of lube, it wont scratch. Then with the products you've got, SRP, then EGP and if you want to use it whack yr Megs NXT wax over the top.:approve:

Thanks for the comments on my pc'ing efforts. Pleased you liked it. And thanks for jump starting the battery for me at the weekend. That was embarassing. lucky i dropped by yours en route otherwise I might have got stuck down at Grantham!!

ps, Your car is bloody rapid, and raw. I'm impressed. It was a good meet tonight. Pub next time mate and we'll have to post some pics up for these guys.

I would not use Megs NXT after EGP, the cleaners in the NXt will remove some of the EGP, best of using a pure carnuba.

I topped mine with Victoria Concourse. First weekend by hand [too much product making it difficult to remove], second weekend by foam applicator [a breeze:approve:]

Is there any mileage in using the SONUS paintwork cleanser after the Menz IP and FF and before the wax Rich?

Just that I got some thrown in with my PC and havent opened it yet.

The Sonus Paint Cleaner makes a good base for applying the wax, similar to AG SRP. I quite like it, and its really easy to use. Plus smells lovely!

I used Clearkote VM after the IP and FF the other month when I did the 182 and it was a worth while added step. The Sonus should as above ensure the base is spot on for the LSP.

Cheers Rich, looks like using that next time then. I'll give it til the end of September till I do it again.

Whats the best thing to do? Remove any remaining wax with clay???? Then SONUS paint cleanser and re-apply wax? I shouldnt need to machine polish again should I. Though I want to have a better go at the bonnet where there are some water marks from the dribbling windscreen washers.:dapprove:

Dont know how much of the VC will remain in 8 weeks time.....

I would only clay if the paint feels like it needs it - if still smooth just use the Paint Cleanser and Re Wax.
