PDA’s for satnav

What sort of spec pda would i need to run satnav?

Is the ipaq the best solution, or would a Sony one be better. Gonna try and do it for as little money as possible so im not interested in buying the top of the range ipaq, just need a spec thats suitable and up to the task!

I know ill also need a copy of the tomtom software and a cradle for the pda. I already have the Road angel for the gps bit and the cable to connect to a pda.

i would just get a bottom of the range ipaq, nothing special just as long as it has a card expansion slot for the maps, something like iPAQ rz1710 203MHz 32MB will be fine

prob with my ipaq is if the batt isnt charged for a week or 2 it wipes the memory. annoying after spending an hour gettin it all working

M8 has a IPAQ 2210 running Tom Tom Nav 3 - its the bollox, plus you can pick up the 2210 for peanuts almost. Has Blue tooth built in aswell, go for the 221o if i were you... what advantages does the 33xx have over the 22xx ?

Jon try to get one that has the faster 400mhz processor one of the guys here has had some speed related issues running tomtom 3 with his 21xx ipaq.

One of the other guys here picked up a 4150 ipaq (i think thats the model) for £85 from ebay at the weekend.

Youre less restricted than the 172 owners due to the screen not deflecting gps signals in the Cup. So most gps units will be fine.

I have the lead that plugs in to the back of my Road Angel classic and then into the pda so im ok on that front.

the 2210 has the 400 mhz processor, thats the one I have but it is discontinued now as they have the new range in. Probably best to get one off ebay if you can.

Based in the US, will have to pay at least £50 import tax on it.

i have a refurb 4155, got that off ebay, dead cheap! got it from the US, they sent it as a gift so no tax to pay! It was from NYC.

And tomtom 3 is great.

They say you will not be charged import tax or duties as they are billed to their account ? Not heard that before but it is very cheap at £160.
