petrol problems

my wife uses the clio, i just use me van

but she has said on a number f times now, she will come home and there will be 100 miles of petrol left on the clock, then when she goes out in the morning the petrol light is on?

is this a common thing or am i gonna have to look for a leak?

The light comes on when you've 1.1 gallong or so in the tank but its not that accurate.

Dpends how she drives assuming she does 50mpg (possible) and if she parks on a slope then starts the car the tank whilst having maybe 2 galoons the sensors only detecting a tank with under 1.1 galong in it.
